But Why?[edit]
Not that this is broken too much, but I didn't see Imprisonment as needing a buff. Why? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:26, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
- I just felt the old one was kind of clunky and felt like a 8th level spell when you consider mass save or die other schools have (Sphere of Ultimate Destruction or something for transmutation and wail of banshee for necromancy) so I decided I would make the spell a little bit better for a touch save or die on sorcerer/wizard spell list. --Leziad (talk) 23:29, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
- 8th level, sure, I can see it as 8th. The recall function seems needlessly tight (Freedom seemed like a fine counter, you still have to know where the prison was applied) and with the save vs still lose, its much less of a threat to cast this spell. Before you had to consider "will this miss" and judge if you wanted to use that action or something more reliable. With this, you can fire and still be useful regardless what happens. I don't mind effects on a save, its a good thing, but maybe you want to amp it down a bit so its a complimentary prize rather than a silver medal. To compare, "how much would you spend for 20d8 and stagger 1 round, no save, touch", because thats what it is without the save or die. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:33, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
- If you compare it with transmutation SoD it still not astronomical, especially with homebrew spells around. Yes this is very good, but if you miss the touch attack you are still boned, now at least it does a slightly better polar ray if the enemy make a save. --Leziad (talk) 23:35, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
- "Touch attack." "Miss." I do not understand these words. In all seriousness, touch attacks are nearly auto-hits because touch attacks. The main dnager is a caster being forced into melee.
