Physical Description
Fully realized Pollies are about as large as a human, though they may remain fairly stumpy or grow to exceptional sizes depending on their subspecies and growth direction. Fungal clusters and stems approximate legs and feet in varying states of completeness, whereas the head is often part of the main stem or the cap. Pollies are unisex, and 'procreate' by mixing fungal spores, though the process of spores growing into a sentient newborn Polly can take years or even decades.
Relations
|specialtype1=
|specialtext1=Pollies possess all traits of the Plant type, except that they only have a +4 racial bonus to saves against mind-affecting effects, and only 50% fortification against critical hits. Other immunities remain.
|special3=Ungainly Form
|specialtype3=
|specialtext3=Polly are often oddly shaped, clumsy and not very athletic. They cannot run. They can hustle, but incur limitations as though they were running (i.e. having to make checks after a number of rounds equal to their Constitution score and so forth). They are considered unusual creatures for the purpose of buying and using armor, and furthermore incur double the have a native armor check penalty resulting from worn items, though of -4 even when not from carrying loadswearing anything.
|special4=
|specialtext4=A polly has telepathy out to 100 feet.
|special5=Acclimated
|specialtype5=
|specialtext5=A polly is quiet and right at home in withdrawn areas in nature or underground. Many creatures consider them as simply fungus — part of the environment — and ignore them. Creatures of the has animallight sensitivity, plant, and incurs a -4 penalty to saving throws against verminlight, -based spells and ooze types generally start out with neutral disposition towards a polly. Pollies do not trigger territorial behaviour. Creatures that prey on or eat fungus ignore this special qualityeffects.
|special6special7=Susceptible to Light
|specialtype7=Ex
|specialtext7=A polly may root itself into any natural surface as a full-round action. While rooted, a polly absorbs nutrients from wood, soil, stone, and groundwater and gains rapid healing equal to its effective character level. A rooted polly enjoys a +8 circumstance bonus to Hide and Disguise checks to impersonate an ordinary mushroom. For this purpose, a rooted Polly may hide in plain sight as a ranger.
:Unrooting is a standard action.
|special8=Hearth Mushroom
|specialtype8=Ex
|specialtext8=A Polly may spawn a special mushroom called a hearth mushroom in which it stores a portion of its life force. A newly spawned hearth mushroom requires 1 hour to plant and takes a number of days to mature equal to 20 minus the Polly's character level, to a minimum of 1 day, and requires the Polly to invest 1,000 XP into its growth. A Polly may have multiple hearth mushrooms, to a maximum of 1 per character level. The hearth mushroom is the same subspecies as the Polly that spawned it, and looks for all intents and purposes like an ordinary mushroom of Small size. A hearth mushroom has half the hit points of the Polly that spawned it and an AC of 6 + the Polly's natural armor score.
:If the polly dies within 1,000 feet per character level of a fully matured hearth mushroom, the hearth mushroom will grow into the polly's new body over the course of 1d10 days, consuming the mushroom in the process. A dead polly can similarly be returned to life by being brought into the radius of one of its hearth mushrooms as long as the number of days since its death is less than half its character level. After this period, the dead polly's hearth mushrooms will all die.
|special9=Fungal Spores|specialtype9=Su|specialtext9=Pollies have access to spores of various types. See Polly Subspecies for more information.
