:I know you're gonna disagree, but I don't see it that way. By and large because it's only 2 points higher than a +5 heavy shield, which you can get well before you get 7+ AC amounts, and reliant on you keeping some high level abjurations aboard. Another comparison would be Force Shield from psionics as a form of high scaling AC.
