Parallel Channeler

The result of an extremely bizarre phenomena, the parallel channeler does not channel spirits like most mediums. Instead she channels alternate versions of herself from parallel dimensions, using their memory and experience to expand her own abilities. The parallel channeler loses most of her connection to this world and its spirits, but instead gains a greater tie to herself, and herself, and herself, and herself.

Class: Medium

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: Spirit, shared seance, haunt channeler, location channel, connection channel, ask the spirits, astral journey, trance of three, spacious soul, astral beacons

Benefit: A parallel channeler gain access to the following class features:

Alternate Self (Su): The parallel channeler does not channel spirits through a seance. Instead she calls upon alternate versions of herself from adjacent parallel timelines. The alternate self and the parallel channeler fuse as one for the duration of the channeling. An alternate self behaves just like a spirit, except she does not not need to channel them in a favored location.

The parallel channeler has access to all spirits, calling upon a reclusive wizard version of herself with the archmage, or a famous fighter version of herself as a champion. The influence she accrues is the will of alternate self over her own, although the goals of the medium and her alternate self tend to closely align. When she channels one of her alternate selves, her mannerism and appearance can be somewhat affected at the player’s discretion.

If the parallel channeler accrues 5 points of influence the player keeps control of the character, although the alternate self is now in control. However the link between worlds become strained, the medium cannot accrue more influence or use her Alternate Ally, Alternate Army or New Self abilities.

This ability alters spirit.

Alternate Ally (Sp): At 2nd level, a parallel channeler can use ally across time as a spell-like ability once per day. She can also expend any unused spell slot of 1st level or higher to cast ally across time. When a parallel channeler gains this ability, if she knows ally across time, she can learn a different 1st-level spell in place of ally across time., losing the old spell in exchange for the new one.

This ability replaces shared seance.

Teamwork Feat: A 3rd level parallel channeler gains a Teamwork feat she meets the prerequisite for as a bonus feat.

This ability replaces haunt channeler.

Parallel Shift (Su): A parallel channeler of 5th level is able to briefly travel to parallel dimension before reemerging somewhere else. She gain the Skip ability of a skipper of her level -4. Unlike a skipper, the parallel channeler must wait 1d4 rounds between uses of this ability.

This ability replaces location channel and ask the spirits.

Alternate Army (Sp): At 7th level, the parallel channeler's alternate ally spell-like ability changes to army across time spell. She can still expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to cast ally across time, except that if spend a spell slot of 3rd level of higher she cast army across time instead.

This ability replaces connection channel.

Reality Shift (Sp): For the parallel channeler, travelling to alternate dimensions is easy. At 14th level she can use plane shift as a spell-like ability once per day. She can also expend any unused spell slot of 4th level or higher to cast plane shift. When a parallel channeler uses plane shift she may travel to a parallel dimension or alternate reality at the GM's discretion, but she may only transport herself if she do so.

This ability replaces astral journey.

New Self (Su): At 15th level, the parallel channeler not only can channel her alternate self, but can transfer her powers to them. The parallel channeler may vanish as a full-round action, finding a suitable alternate self and transferring her memory and powers to her. When she reappears at the start of her turn she gain the full effect of a heal and regenerate spell and is freed of all affliction she suffered from. The parallel channeler's may experience minor cosmetic changes, but are visibly the same person. Upon using this ability the parallel channeler may immediately change her alternate self to another, but gain an additional point of influence if she does so. The new parallel channeler has her own consciousness, but counts as the original for all intent and purpose. At 20th level she does not gain an additional point of influence when she uses this ability.

The parallel channeler can use this ability once per day at 15th level, and twice per day at 18th level. This ability replaces trance of three, spacious soul and astral beacon.
