Paladin of the Light

Paladins of the Light usually come from Pelorian Faith, The sun god. Most paladins of the light follow Pelor's teachings in some fashion. They are charitable and usually go out of their way to help others. They strive to do the utmost good wherever possible, they are not constrained by order or chaos. Paladins of the Light are known to go on crusades to rid the world of Undead and Evil in all forms, but do not Blindly chase those such evils.

Class: Paladin

Prerequisites: Any Good

Level: 1st

Replaces: Aura of Courage, Some Spells depending on Choice, and the Code of Conduct

Benefit: Paladins of the Light gain the following:

Aura of Devotion (Su): Beginning at 3rd level, the paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise) and compulsion. Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects and compulsion effects.

This ability functions while the paladin is conscious, but not if she is unconscious or dead.

Spells:: A Paladin of the Light must choose between Justice or Freedom if she is of the Neutral Good Alignment, otherwise she gains the Protection, Magic Circle, and Dispel spells opposing her alignment. Protection from Chaos, Magic Circle against Chaos, Dispel Chaos for Lawful Characters, and Protection from Law, Magic Circle against Law, Dispel Law for Chaotic Characters

The choice must be made at 1st, and this decision cannot be changed.

A Paladin of the Light that chooses Justice retain the following Spells: Protection from Chaos, Magic Circle against Chaos, Dispel Chaos

A Paladin of the Light that chooses Freedom replaces the Chaos-Opposed Spells with the following: Protection from Law, Magic Circle against Law, Dispel Law

Code of Conduct: A paladin of the light must be of Neutral Good alignment and loses all class abilities if she ever willingly commits an evil act.

Additionally, a paladin of the light’s code requires that she seek to destroy evil or undead whenever possible(so long as the act does not threaten innocents or is an evil act in of itself), help those in need (provided they do not use the help for evil ends, or to tamper with the dead), and punish those who harm or threaten innocents.

Associates: While she may adventure with characters of any good or neutral alignment, a paladin will never knowingly associate with evil characters, nor will she continue an association with someone who consistently offends her moral code. A paladin may accept only henchmen, followers, or cohorts who are good.

Ex-Paladins

A paladin who ceases to be good, who willfully commits an evil act, or who grossly violates the code of conduct loses all paladin spells and abilities (including the service of the paladin’s mount, but not weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies). She may not progress any farther in levels as a paladin. She regains her abilities and advancement potential if she atones for her violations (see the atonement spell description), as appropriate.
