Landsknecht
The landsknechts known to be eccentric and rather fashionable mercenaries, who prefer heavy swords and polearms to small blades. While their allegiance may be for sale, they are disciplined and capable of taking out any foe that stands in their way.
Class: Swashbuckler
Level: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th, 17th, 20th
Replaces: Swashbuckler Finesse, Deeds (Altered), Precise Strike, Swashbuckler Weapon Training, Swashbuckler's Grace, Swashbuckler Weapon Mastery
Benefit: A landsknecht gain the following class features:
Armored Mercenary (Ex): A landsknecht gains proficiency with medium armor, all of her swashbuckler class features which require light armor also function in medium armor (such as nimble).
This ability replaces Swashbuckler Finesse.
Landsknecht's Deeds: A landsknecht can regain panache and perform any deeds which require a one-handed or light piercing weapon with any weapons of the heavy blade or polearm weapon groups. Additionally she gain the following deeds:
Hefty Strike (Ex): This deed functions as a precise strike, except that the landsknecht only deals additional damage equal to half her level. However she can use her hefty strike while wielding any weapon, including weapons wielded two-handed. The extra damage from hefty strike isn't precision damage but isn't multiplied on a critical hit.
This deed replaces precise strike.
Armored Grace (Ex): A 7th level, while a landsknecht has 1 or more points of panache, she reduces her armor check penalty by 2 and moves at her normal speed while wearing medium armor.
This deed replaces swashbuckler's grace.
Mordhaus (Ex): A 7th level landsknecht knows how to strike with the pommel of her sword, or with the shaft of her polearm. As long as she has at least a point of panache, she can use her weapon against adjacent target using the statistic of a club (weapon type and weapon group stay the same). The weapon retains its masterwork quality and magical special abilities, except for those weapon special abilities that apply only to edged weapons.
This deed replaces superior feint.
Landsknecht Weapon Training (Ex): At 5th level, a landsknecht gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with weapons from the heavy blade and polearm weapon groups. These attack and damage bonuses increase by 1 for every 4 levels beyond 5th level (to a maximum of +4 at 17th level).
This ability replaces Swashbuckler Weapon Training.
Landsknecht Weapon Mastery (Ex): At 20th level, when a landsknecht threatens a critical hit with a weapon from the heavy blade or polearm weapon group, that critical is automatically confirmed. Furthermore, the critical modifiers of such weapons increase by 1 (×2 becomes ×3, and so on).
