Inventor

An inventor is an alchemist that eschewed the studies of potions and instead focused her efforts on the secrets of clockwork and other wonderful technologies.

Class: Alchemist

Level: 1st, 3rd, 18th

Replaces: Alchemy (Modified), Brew Potion, Swift Alchemy, Instant Alchemy

Benefit: An inventor gain the following class features:

Gadgetry (Su): An inventor does not bother to brew potion, instead making use of clockwork gadgets. This class feature acts as the scavenger investigator gadgetry class feature.

This ability modifies alchemy.

Mechanical Expertise (Ex): An inventor gains trapfinding as a rogue of her class level. Additionally she gain half her class level on Craft (Clockwork) and Knowledge (Engineering) checks.

This ability replaces brew potion

Rapid Engineering (Ex): A 3rd level inventor is able to craft and repair constructs (if she has Craft Construct) or technological items twice as fast as normal. At 18th level she may perform those tasks as a full-round action.

This ability replaces swift alchemy and instant alchemy

Genius Discoveries (Ex): An inventor cannot take the enhance potion, extend potion and eternal potion discovery. Instead she may select a few unique discoveries:

Power Bomb (Su): An inventor who selected this discovery is able to spend 1 hour crafting a powerful bomb. This bomb behaves as a time bomb except that it deals 1d6 per alchemist level + the alchemist's Intelligence modifier in typeless damage and the reflex save DC 10 + ½ alchemist level + the alchemist's Intelligence modifier. A creature damaged by the power bomb who fails it Reflex save is made prone. The alchemist may only have a single power bomb active at any time, if she crafts another the previous becomes inert. The alchemist must be 6th level or higher to select this discovery.

Implosion Bomb (Su): The inventor may reduce the radius of her power bomb's fireball by increments of 5 feet, to a minimum of a 5-foot radius, chosen when set. For each 5-foot increment she reduces, she increases the bomb’s damage by 1d6. The alchemist must have the power bomb discovery to select this discovery.
Resilient Bomb (Su): Upon being set, the power bomb may now be freely moved or disturbed without being disarmed. The power bomb may still be disarmed with a disable device DC 20 + the alchemist's class level. If broken the power bomb has a 20% chance of exploding normally, but is otherwise disarmed upon destruction. The inventor who crafted the power bomb may disarm it as a move action. The alchemist must have the power bomb discovery to select this discovery.
