Incarnum Enchanting [Item Creation, Incarnum] "I've never seen a necklace that lets you spit acid before, and I've been a wizard for 40 years. I'm not sure what kind of magic this is, but I most certainly like it."Prerequisites: Meldshaper Level 3rdBenefit: Meldshapers have long fallen behind in the realm of magic, unable to create magic items due to not being able to meet spell prerequisites. However, this problem is now a thing of the past for Meldshapers with this feat. A Meldshaper who possesses one of these items can invest Essentia into them as if they were Soulmelds; However, the total effective Essentia invested cannot be higher than the maximum amount of Essentia that could be invested by a Meldshaper of your level.

You can take your knowledge of shaping Soulmelds and meld them into objects. When you do so, the soulmeld functions while the item is worn. The soulmeld acts as if Bound to the corresponding Chakra of the item - Such as the Throat Chakra for a necklace - But does not affect the item it's attached to; An item with a Soulmeld infused into it can't negate itself. To infuse a Soulmeld into an item, you must be able to bind a Soulmeld to the Chakra associated with the item; Totemists have the option of creating an item with a Totem Binding, but such an item would be inert when used by someone who doesn't have the Totem Chakra - In other words, the Soulmeld would only activate when worn by someone with a Totem chakra.

Creating a basic Soulmeld-Infused item is just like enchanting a +1 weapon - It would cost 1,000 GP for materials, 80 XP, and two days. The effect created by the item, when worn, is exactly the same as if the Soulmeld were shaped and Bound to the appropriate chakra, but with no Essentia invested. These Soulmeld-Infused items normally have no essentia capacity, either. However, one can add Essentia capacity to them; Each +1 of capacity to add is equal to another +1 enhancement bonus - Thus a Soulmeld-Infused item with an Essentia capacity of 3 would count as a +4 item for the purposes of cost.

Items infused with a Totem-Bound Soulmeld are created with an additional "free" point of Essentia capacity, due to their specific nature; Thus the cost for a 3-Essentia-capacity Soulmeld-Infused item bound to the Totem chakra would be the same as the cost for a 2-Essentia-capacity item bound to any other Chakra, even if it's the same soulmeld. Total

Armor infused with a Soulmeld counts the Soulmeld's effective Enhancement Bonus against the total EB the suit of armor can possess.

The Meldshaper must have a Meldshaper Level equal to at least three times the effective bonus he's crafting; Thus to infuse a 3-Essentia Soulmeld-Infused item (+4 Equivalent), his Meldshaper level would need to be at least 12th. Of course, the requirement is reduced for Totem-Bound items, to a minimum of MSL 3rd. However, the Meldshaper cannot craft an item that can hold a number of Essentia invested that he could not invest into the item; Even if your Meldshaper level would seem sufficient, your ability to infuse Soulmelds is still limited by your normal meldshaping capabilities. You may learn other Item Creation feats, using your Meldshaper level in place of caster level, and craft items with those feats, though you are still restricted to descriptors you know how to emulate.

Items infused with a Soulmeld cannot be items corresponding to a slot that the Soulmeld itself could not be Bound to, in which Soulmeld-infused items differ from normal magic items. Items infused with Soulmelds that have an alignment-restriction cannot be used by someone with an opposing alignment, and bestow 1 negative level on such a wearer, just like a Holy sword being used by an Evil wielder.

Additionally, upon gaining this feat, the Meldshaper chooses one soulmeld descriptor of a soulmeld he knows, such as [Fire] or [Good]. The Meldshaper can now replicate any spell of that descriptor for the purposes of crafting Wondrous Items, and can craft Wondrous items via this feat, using his Meldshaper level in place of caster level. Whenever the Meldshaper gains an increase in Essentia capacity from having a high Meldshaper level, he can choose another descriptor to emulate, up to 4; This applies retroactively to capacity increases already gained.

Here is an example item made with this feat: Torc Of Dissolving Spittle Example: Jacoby, a 9th-level Incarnate, wants to Infuse his Armguards Of Disruption soulmeld into a pair of bracelets so that he is never without it. He can invest up to 2 points of Essentia into the Soulmeld normally, so he decides to go all-out, spending 9,000 GP, 720 XP and 18 days crafting them. Once he's done, when worn, these bracers allow him to utilize the Soulmeld - Once per round, he can make a melee touch attack against Undead that deals 3d6 damage; The bracers also grant a +2 Insight bonus to AC and Saves against the attacks and abilities of undead.
