Gallant Thief
Not the common ruffian, the gallant thief is a refined gentleman who makes thievery into an art. The typical image of a gallant thief is one of a bored noble who turns thievery into a hobby, adhering to eccentricities such as announcing his crime, leaving calling cards or even returning the stolen item to its owner. A gallant thief knows how to fight, but does not rely on sneaky strikes like scoundrels, instead being skilled duelists.
Class: Unchained Rogue
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Sneak Attack, Danger Sense (Altered), Debilitating Injury, Rogue's Edge, Master Strike
Benefit: A gallant thief gain the following class features:
Weapon Proficiency: A gallant thief is proficient with all simple and martial weapon, alongside the bastard sword, swordcane and whip.
Skills: A gallant thief adds Handle Animal, Heal, Ride, Survival, and all Knowledge skills to his list of class skills.
Code of Honor: A gallant thief adhered to a strict personal code of conduct. A code of honor has at least three clauses chosen from the following list:
- The gallant thief must announce his crime beforehand, usually through an anonymous letter pinned to the estate he wishes to rob or publicly publish it.
- The gallant thief must not steal from the poor, if he does by mistake he must return the stolen items.
- The gallant thief must not steal a family heirloom, if he does by mistake he must return the stolen item.
- The gallant thief must not commit murder.
- The gallant thief must leave a calling card behind after a successful theft.
- The gallant thief must not bother stealing any object whose value is below 50 times his rogue level.
- Another similar clause allowed by the GM.
A gallant thief that violates his code of honor knowingly loses his discipline will and gallant edge ability. This penalty lasts for a week, or upon redressing his mistake. If a gallant thief violates his oath unknowingly he is not penalized unless he refuses to right his mistake once he learns of it.
Challenge (Ex):A gallant thief gains the challenge class features of a Cavalier, using his Rogue level as his Cavalier level. Additionally, the gallant thief gain a +1 bonus on attacks rolls and +1 a dodge bonus to AC against the target of his challenge, this bonus increase by +1 at 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter. The gallant thief can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every three levels beyond 1st, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level. Unlike a cavalier, a gallant thief applies his challenge attack and damage bonus on any ranged made within 30 feet in addition to melee attacks.
This ability replaces Sneak Attack.
Gallant Rogue Talents: The gallant thief can select a vigilante social talent instead of a rogue talent. For the purpose of vigilante social talents, a gallant thief does not have a vigilante identity and is always considered to be in her social identity. This ability alters Rogue Talents. A gallant thief may select a Cavalier’s Mount as a rogue talent if he belongs to the Order of Sword or other Order whose abilities rely on a mount.
This ability alters rogue talent.
Disciplined Will (Ex): A gallant thief is not weak of will like most common ruffians. She adds her danger sense bonus on all will saving throws. This bonus increases by +1 at 6th level and each 3 levels thereafter.
This ability alters danger sense.
Devilish Strike (Ex): Once per round, a gallant thief can declare a single attack against the target of his challenge, a devilish strike. If a devilish strike hits, it deals damage as normal and places a penalty as detailed under Debilitating Injury upon the struck creature, as if the gallant thief had successfully landed a sneak attack on them.
This ability alters Debilitating Injury.
Gallant's Edge (Ex): This ability functions as Rogue's Edge, except the gallant thief also gains a bonus to the chosen skill equal to half his rogue level.
Supreme Strike (Ex): When a 20th level gallant thief successfully strikes the target of his challenge, he may activate supreme strike to deal five times his challenge damage bonus. A gallant thief may only use supreme strike once per challenge.
This ability replaces Master Strike.
