Entity Type[edit]
Neither organic nor artificial. Not a creature of this world or of any other world. Their origins are inscrutable and their minds are leagues beyond comprehension. They don't follow any rules that you or I would easily understand and the only word in any language that could accurately describe them is "Entity".
In worlds filled with magic you will encounter things that defy explanation often enough. However, with most things, they actually can be explained, it's just difficult. However, there are some things which are truly beyond being understood. Creatures with no origins, age, minds, or need to obey physics. Like constructs of abstract concept or outsiders without a soul or body. Some are the size of the entire cosmos and some are smaller than neutrinos. Perhaps they are forgotten fragments of another reality, or perhaps they are entire realities themselves. Were they born in the empty space between moments or were they created at the end of time before simply moving backwards through reality? Are they immutable facts or are they inexplicable flukes? Not even the most powerful can say. In fact, the only thing that can truly be known about them is that they do in fact exist and have wills of their own. The only word to describe one of these creatures is "entity".
Features[edit]
An entity creature has the following features.
- 12-sided Hit Dice (with special rules).
- Base attack bonus equal to total Hit Dice (as fighter).
- Good Fortitude, Reflex, and Will saves.
- Special skill options equal to (4 + Int).
Traits[edit]
An entity creature possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).
- When rolling for hit points, an entity is actually capable of having more hp than it's HD allows. On any result of 12 when rolling for hit points, make note of it. Then, after all HD have been rolled, roll another d12 for each noted roll, and add that result as bonus hp. On these bonus rolls, note any results of 12 over again and repeat the process until no 12s are rolled. Some effects grant a creature maximum hp on it's HD. In such a case, roll the HD anyways and make note of any result of 12 and replace any non-12 result with a 12. Do not take the maximum on the bonus rolls.
- Entities do not have skill ranks because they don't develop skills. Instead, they simply do things. An entity selects four "skill options" with additional skill options equal to their Int modifier. For each skill option, the entity selects a single skill and gains the ability to automatically succeed on any check for that skill. The entity might have to still roll when another individual is involved, such as diplomacy rolls, bluff rolls, or opposed skill checks. In circumstances such as these, the entity is simply treated as having maximum ranks in all skills it has a skill option for.
- Entities don't have anatomies or minds or anything else that mortals are accustomed to seeing. Most things that are directed at an entity end up doing nothing. Yet, on occasion, things that work on physical creatures end up working on an entity just the same. Any action directed at the entity which requires an immediate action or longer to perfom has either a 25% chance, a 50% chance, or a 75% chance of not working on the entity, depending on the entity in question. The exact number is specified in the entities stat block.
- Entities are immune to polymorphing, petrification, or any form-altering attack. They are also not subject to energy drain, negative levels, level loss, ability damage, or ability drain. They are also immune to mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects) and death effects.
- Entities usually appear to have corporeal bodies, and are treated as such, but, when they are defeated, these bodies cease to exist in any real sense. Occasionally, depending on the entity, actions they may have taken might be undone as well, as though they were just an illusion.
- If any particular entity has a soul, then that soul does not follow any rules that ours do, and so are treated as not having souls.
- An entity has proficiency with it's own natural attacks and with improvised weapons.
- Entities do not eat, sleep, or breathe.
