Effigy Puppeteer
An effigy puppeteer is not a true summoner. Instead they have learned how to empower a carved imitation of a mythical creature with their own life force. This ‘puppet’ is purely artificial and is little more than an articulated statue on its own, but with the effigy puppeteer’s will behind it, becomes as capable as a summoned eidolon.
Class: Summoner
Level: 1st-18th
Replaces: Eidolon (Altered), Summon Monster, Maker's Call (Altered), Aspect, Greater Aspect
Benefit: An effigy puppeteer gains access to the following class features.
Effigy Maker: Am effigy puppeteer gains the Craft ConstructV as a bonus feat, even if she does not meet the prerequisites. She gains a bonus on Craft checks made to create or repair constructs equal to her class level. Furthermore, she adds the make whole (2nd), rapid repair (4th) and memory of function spell to her summoner spell list at the listed spell level.
This ability replaces summon monster.
Puppet Effigy (Ex): An effigy puppeteer is not a typical summoner. Her eidolon is merely an artificial monster connected to her life force. The effigy puppeteer eidolon is of the construct type rather than an outsider. Do not recalculate the eidolon base attack bonus and saves. The puppet effigy gains all traits of a construct, including bonus hit points based on its size. While it lacks an Intelligence bonus, the puppet effigy has feats but no skill. Since the puppet effigy lacks a Constitution score, any DC which relies on the puppet effigy Constitution instead relies on the effigy puppeteer's Charisma bonus.
The puppet effigy has no will of its own and must actively puppeteered each round as a move action, which requires two hands. If not actively directed, the puppet effigy unable to attack and use any special abilities or activated feats, and may only take a single move action. While actively puppeteered, the effigy puppet can use the summoner's skill ranks in any Strength or Dexterity-based skills. If puppeteered with only a single hand, the puppet effigy may act normally but is staggered.
Instead of being sent back to another plane, the puppet effigy can be made to shrink into an unanimated figurine. In this form it is easily carried and weighs nothing. As a standard action, the effigy puppeteer may reanimate her puppet effigy and return it to its proper size. If destroyed or lost, the effigy puppeteer can spend 24 hours to carve a new effigy puppet, severing her connection with her previous puppet if still existing.
This ability alters eidolon.
Carved Form (Ex): At 3rd level the puppet effigy gains the Damage Reduction evolution at no evolution point cost. Instead of selecting an alignment she gains DR/Adamantine and Magic. At 9th level the puppet effigy's damage reduction increases to 10. At 15th level it increases again to 15.
Puppeteer's Sense (Ex): Starting at 5th level, the effigy puppeteer is able to use her bond sense with her puppet effigy at-will.
Maker’s Call (Su): As the typical summoner ability of the same name, except that the effigy puppeteer may use this ability a number of additional times per day equal to her Charisma modifier.
Carved Grafts (Ex): Starting at 10th level, the effigy puppeteer has replaced parts of her body with construct grafts of her own making. Firstly any prosthetics she uses to replaces her own missing limbs are infused with her effigy powers and behaves as a normal limb of its kind. Secondly she gains a +2 inherent bonus to Strength and either the Preserve Organ or Vestigial Arm discovery. This does not allow her to qualify for the extra discovery feat. At 14th and 18th level she increases her inherent bonus to Strength by 2 and gains an additional instance of either discovery of her choice.
This ability replaces aspect and greater aspect.
