Classic Thief
A classic thief is a rogue that does not rely on hugely damaging blows to win a fight. Instead she trains to be better at thievery, while still being no slouch when fighting. A classic thief uses rogue's strike instead of sneak attack, which applies on every hit and is increased in situations that sneak attack would apply, but is always less damaging. The classic thief is a differently balanced rogue, better at fighting foe she cannot flank and stealing, instead of being able to do incredible burst damage.
Class: Rogue or Unchained Rogue
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Sneak Attack
Benefit: A classic thief gain the following class features:
Equipment Mastery (Ex): A classic thief is extremely skilled with just about anything she can get her hands on. As a swift action she can grant herself the benefits of Equipment Trick with any items of her choice. She does not need to meet the prerequisite of the feat, but must meet the prerequisite of individual tricks. She retains the benefits of the feat for as long as she desires, until she changes for another item as a swift action.
Additionally, a classic thief gain the Quick Draw feat as a bonus feat. She can use it to draw the item associated with her current Equipment Trick feat as if it was a weapon.
Fast Movement (Ex): A classic's thief land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when she is wearing no armor or light armor and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the classic thief'ss speed because of any load carried or armor worn.
Steal (Ex): A 1st level classic thief gain Improved Steal as a bonus feat without needing to meet the prerequisites, she uses her class level instead of her BAB to calculate her CMB when using dirty trick or steal maneuver. If the classic thief succeed at stealing an item, she may store it into her pocket or a pouch as a free action. At 6th level she gain both Greater Steal and Quick Steal as bonus feat without needing to meet the prerequisites.
Additionally a classic thief with Two-Weapon Fighting counts any hands wielding a light weapon as free for the purpose of using the steal maneuver.
This ability replaces sneak attack.
Clever Defense (Ex): A 2nd level classic thief who wears light or no armor gains either her Intelligence or her Charisma as a dodge bonus to AC. If she wears armor, this bonus is limited by her armor's max dexterity.
Rogue's Strike (Ex): A 2nd level classic thief adds half her class level as a bonus on damage roll made with weapons attack. If the rogue is flanking the target, the target is denied her Dexterity to AC or the attack is a confirmed critical hit she instead adds her full class level to her damage roll with weapons. This extra damage is precision damage, and creatures not subject to critical hits are immune to it. When the rogue strikes a creature who she is flanked or that is denied its dexterity to AC, she counts as landing a sneak attack for the purpose of feats and class features, with each 2 points of extra damage counting as a 1 dice of sneak attack.
This class feature counts as sneak attack for the purpose of meeting prerequisites, counting as 1 dice of sneak attack for each 2 class level the rogue has. If any feats or prestige class would grant sneak attack, it instead add 2 level to your effective rogue level for rogue's strike (to a maximum of your character level).
Thief's Instinct (Ex): A 3rd level classic thief gains a bonus on her Will save and initiative checks equal to her trap sense bonus (or danger sense for unchained rogue).
