Ancient Elf[edit]

The original and true breed of the elven people may come back in true elves that follow a special training regimen, after many pure elven breeding.

Creating an Ancient Elf[edit]

This is a inherited template that only true elves may receive. Despite only applying to newborn elf this template doesn't come exclusively from birth: an ancient elf must still train and study endlessly to acquire all the benefits that come from this template. Change becomes manifest in late adolescence, when the ancient elf grows taller than those of the same age, stronger and more agile, demonstrating a keen intellect and a deeper connection to magic.

Size and Type[edit]

The size of ancient elves is Large, as they tower between those of their kind. They gain the Spiritfolk subtype, in addition to their usual subtype.

Hit Dice[edit]

Ancient elves don't gain any extra Hit Dices and their progression is determined by their class level as normal.

Speed[edit]

The base land speed of an ancient elf increases by 10 feet (3 meters), tipically becoming 40 feet (12 meters).

Special Attacks[edit]

Elven Magic: At character creation choose one 2nd level spell from the druid or wizard spell list (or another spell list if the base race has another spellcasting class as favorite class, but always 2nd level). It may use this spell as a spell-like ability 1/day + 1 extra use at 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th level.

Special Qualities[edit]

Immunity to magic sleep effects and to charme spells or effects (unless used by a fey), and a +4 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects (it substitutes the standard racial bonus of elves).

Preternatural Agility: Ancient elves gain a +1 dodge bonus to AC. This bonus increases by 1 per every 5 HDs or class levels the ancient elf has. They negate any penalties to AC and attacks coming from the Large size.

Slight Build: Ancient elves are tall but not massive, gaining the benefits of the Slight Build feat.

Superior Low-Light Vision: It works as low-light vision but it allows to see three times as far as humans in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination.

Abilities[edit]

+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, +2 to one mental score chosen at character creation, in addition to the standard racial ability scores of elves.

Skills[edit]

+4 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An ancient elf who merely passes within 10 feet (3 meters) of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if it were actively looking for it. This racial bonuses substitute the normal racial skill bonuses of elves. If your base elf doesn't have bonuses to these skill, double their skill bonuses instead.

Feats[edit]

Ancient elves gain proficiency in all the elven traditional weapons: longsword, rapier, longbow, shortbow, elven courtbladeRotW, elven lightbladeRotW and elven thinbladeRotW. They gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage with these weapons. It counts as Weapon Focus for any prerequisites.

In addition, they gain one bonus feat chosen from the fighter bonus feats list or metamagic feat or a racial feat.

Environment[edit]

They are found typically in advanced and civilized elven communities.

Organization[edit]

Ancient elves are proud and arrogant, even more than normal elves, even towards them. They usually fit in the elven society and always occupy important roles.
