Clad in black robes that conceal the skeletal appearances of the dragonblooded assassins underneath, the maweth are feared both by those within and without the cult. When they are released, they hunt their targets without mercy or care for collateral.
The Cult of the Wyrmtongue is a dragonblooded supremacy organization who believes in the exultation of all things dragon related, and in their zeal they have taken up the practice of worshiping the Dragons Ascended, supposed gods who, real or not, seem to bless their worshipers with mutations that transform them into living weapons. Among them are the maweth, assassins associated with the Ascended Dragon Lo Praan the Betrayer. Associated with death, wanton meaningless slaughter, and assassinations their bodies are withered and skeleton mutated until they seem almost like the undead themselves. Their minds are stripped of morality and mercy as they are given a single-minded goal to hunt and slay. The cult uses them to strike fear into their opponents, but sometimes they are used to keep the less zealous sheep in their flock in line.
Maweth are created from the bodies of any dragonblooded species such as dragonborn, half-dragons, and rarely even lizardfolk who has draconic blood. Though it can cover multiple races, each of these variants have the same basic maweth abilities and statistics. Maweth speak Draconic, and any previous languages they spoke before their transformation.
Combat[edit]
Maweth are simultaneously subtle yet impossible to miss. They stalk their targets, saying nothing as they watch and wait for the ideal opportunity, and then when their target is in a moment of weakness they strike with a bloody fury and wrath. Their weapons of choice are far from subtle, twin shotguns which they wield with all the ease of daggers, and they rarely make consideration for collateral as they use these brief moments of ultra-violence to fulfill their psychopathic tendancies. Then when the battle turns against them or the job is done they ghost into the realm of the dead and slip away to strike again another time.
Blessings of the Wyrmtongue (Su): The blessings of draconic forces empower a normal dragonblooded creature into one of their followers. As a follower of the wyrmtongue, they gain unique BAB, saving throws, skills per level, and class skills for what are effectively racial hit dice. In addition to the unique abilities of the wyrmtongue herald, they gain a +2 enhancement bonus to any armor, shields, or weapons they use and a +3 resistance bonus to all saves. The blessings of the wyrmtongue also protect their soul after death, traveling to a unknown but specific plane in the afterlife and immune to being affected by abilities which trap or imprison the soul.
Extraordinary Health (Ex): The maweth wyrmtongue always receives maximum hit points per HD.
Immunities: The maweth is immune to death effects, disease, energy drain, paralysis, and sleep.
Phasing (Su): The maweth is capable of passing in and out of the world of the death with ease, which allows them to move through the astral and ethereal planes in one of two ways.
As a standard action they can reproduce the effect of dimension door. They may use it at will, with a 3 round cooldown between uses.
Alternatively as an immediate action they can become incorporeal for up to 3 rounds, with a 3 round cooldown after use. They appear as a smoky ghostly form of themselves, but cannot attack material creatures in this state.
When they die they and their equipment vanishes in a puff of ethereal smoke. They may make a Fortitude save with a DC equal to the damage they have taken over 0 hp, if successful they will respawn in 1d4 days in a random spot within 1 mile of where they died.
Vampiric Weapons (Su): The maweth recovers hit points equal to the base weapon damage on its attacks (not including enhancement or ability scores) on a successful hit. For their shotguns, this means they recover 2d6 damage per hit.
Whirlwind of Death (Ex): Once per encounter the maweth can make a flurry of attacks in all directions. They perform a Two-Weapon Whirlwind even with ranged weapons out to their first range increment. However, they can only perform it if they have previously killed a sapient being in the last 24 hours, and must kill again (outside of their whirlwind of death) to refresh it.
