Walking Stick[edit]

This is a length of material, typically wood, that has been carved and finished to be the perfect aid for walking long distances and providing an additional point of contact and support with the ground. It is sturdy enough to act as a club, or as a quarterstaff of its size if particularly large. And likewise a staff or quarterstaff may serve as a walking stick, or as a masterwork walking stick if the item's value is greater than 10 gp.

A walking stick may be used to ease the burden of walking, and as extra support when facing strong winds. By walking at half speed with a walking stick the user gains a +4 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground). When walking for long distances with a walking stick it offers a +2 bonus on Constitution checks from a forced march on foot. A masterwork walking stick's user is treated by strong winds as if they were one size larger for purposes of wind effects.

These of course can be much more ornate and fanciful if desired.
