Consort of Syrali, patron of balance and second-in-command of the Silver Elf pantheon.

"Balance can be found in all things; We must embrace the good with the evil and the hate with the love. Only when we know our true selves can we find our purpose. Fools think things opposing can never be the same, but in truth opposites attract far more than things normally viewed as similar ever will. Everthing, no matter how distant from each other or backward to each other they may seem, are connected, and in that connection, all things exist, including you. Tasting both fire and ice, mastering mind and body as one, these are the steps to untangling the web that connects us all, and once done, you will find a little of each within yourself, thus placing you at the center of the wheel."

Origin[edit]

Vestikar the Masked One was once a Githzerai, a Druid in the service of Syrali. He served alongside the Silver Elves in the blood war against the Githyanki, defending their capitol city after Syrali's fall. When the queen was still alive, he had loved her from afar, though she never knew of it; And he himself never told anyone. But when she fell and ascended to godhood, he took up the shield in her name to lead his adopted people just as she had. He took out the war leader of the Githyanki, but died in the process, and for his deeds in her name, Syrali granted him a spark of her divinity. As a hero to their people, the Masked One eventually ascended to be her equal, and later he admitted his feelings for her. Turns out, she had known ever since his death and ascendance; And they became lovers, eventually giving life to their daughter, Cyliira.

Description[edit]

Vestikar appears as a muscular Githzerai in dark robes, wearing a plain black cloth mask that covers his entire face. He carries with him the Great Wheel, his shield upon which it is set sit the pinnacles of the elements and the alignments alike within those twenty gems. In the center lies an empty setting, much larger that the others, that back of which is polished to mirror clarity; When he appears to followers, he almost always holds the shield so that his follower sees their own reflection at the center of the wheel. In life, Vestikar was a Githzerai Druid 10/Wu Jen 10/Arcane Heirophant 10/Swordsage 10.

Dogma[edit]

Vestikar encourages his followers to seek the middle ground, embracing both the "Turn left to go right" and "To fly, one must first jump" philosophies. He teaches that sometimes evil is necessary in the name of good, and that order can be forged most easily from boiling chaos.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Vestikar's Clerics aren't constrained by alignment like other Clerics are; Not even in their selection of domains. In fact, Vestikar encourages choosing two opposite domains, such as Fire and Water, Strength and Knowledge, or Good and Evil, in order to put yourself in the middle. Vestikar's Clerics can cast alignment-based spells from the alignment domains without restriction; A Good cleric of Vestikar could cast any of the spells from the Evil domain without issue, for example. However, this doesn't apply to any other spells they attain; Just the domain spells. Vestikar's clerics can channel positive or negative energy as they choose.

His temples are often somewhat plain affairs; With the exception of the chapels, which are covered with all manner of clashing decor, fire and water, demons and angels, creation and destruction. Each church has twenty leaders elected by the church as a whole; Each leader represents one of the elemental, paraelemental or quasielemental planes, or one of the four alignments. These leaders are referred to as the Spokes.

Clerics of Vestikar can freely multiclass as any class; those with levels of Paladin or Monk aren't subject to the normal multiclassing restrictions of those classes either.

Pantheon[edit]

Vestikar is part of the Silver Elf pantheon, along with his consort, Syrali, and daughter, Cyliira, as well as the god Alhura. He has good relations with the others, including Alhura (though he doesn't trust him for the most part) despite his ways. Vestikar is on good terms with Zuoken and Obad-Hai, and generally doesn't feel one way or another toward any of the other deities, with the exception of the Lich-Queen of the Githyanki, whom the Silver Elf pantheon as a whole despises.
