Someone help me with this... not [any] article in particular, but i'm a brand new Wiki editter, i have absolutely NO IDEA how to work this...

I need help with

  1. Learning how to message people on here.
  2. How to insert stuff into a sandbox i just learned to create in my user page, while still being able to use the structures of this page, as seen below.
  3. General stuff editters need to know in order to work DND WIKI.

Hey Firestorms0, and welcome to our little corner of the internet. I went ahead and moved your request to your talk page to keep it with the responses in a more central place. Plus, now I can answer your questions without cluttering up an article page :-). So, here's a bit to help you get started.
  1. You can message people on here in a whole bunch of different places. At the top of each page is a tab labelled "discussion"; we generally call it the talk page. Each talk page is associated with an individual article or user page. This page, for example, is your talk page because it's attached to your user page. Putting a comment up on a user's talk page is the easiest way to message them, since it will often show them a notice on the wiki. You can also message people about a specific page on that page's talk page. The talk for your class, Talk:Ranger's Apprentice (3.5e Class), is a good place to keep conversation about that topic so people can find it more easily. One thing to keep in mind though is that once you start a conversation on a page or send someone a message, replies are going to show up there and you may need to remember to check the page later on.
  2. You have a couple of options for moving stuff. If the page you want stuff in doesn't exist yet, you can use the drop down arrow near the search box, select "Move", and just type in the name of the page you want to move the whole thing. This is the preferred method of moving pages. If the page already exists, like your sandbox did after you created the page, you probably can't do the move. Instead, you'd want to copy page text from the original page and paste it in the new one. Which is what I did earlier.
  3. There's a few things you might want to know about our preloads to make life easier. We use a lot of things to keep pages consistent and searchable, things that we have generally have preset to eliminate headaches for new users, but there's places in them where you need to add your own text. So anytime you see anything like "<!-- Stuff -->" or "<- stuff ->" in a preload, we're expecting you to replace the entire "<-stuff->" block with the relevant bits. The stuff in them is generally directions so that people know what things are supposed to go there. You don't want to remove anything else from those areas though, as taking out a |} or }} or ]] or = or whatever might break a table, template, or property/link. Spacing is also important sometimes. You may want to know how to add to or remove from a table later on, but that's probably enough to get you started.
One last thing, you'll want to sign your comments on talk pages with either ~~~~ or the signature button at the top of the editting window. It makes it easy to identify who is saying what, and you can follow their name link back to their pages if you wanted to send them a message directly about something. - Tarkisflux Talk 19:21, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
