You may use this maneuver when standing next to an ally; until the beginning of your next turn or until the ally designated moves away from you, you may choose to intercept all attacks meant for the beneficiary of this maneuver (this includes any spell or supernatural effect that would affect them). When you choose to do this, you step into the path of the attacker (switching places with your designated ally if necessary) and make yourself the intended target instead, using your own Armor Class and saving throws as needed. If you are using this maneuver to counter a burst effect (such as fireball), line, or cone, the person you are covering is treated as being in total cover. In return, you gain no Reflex save against an intercepted effect that offers one. Cloud effects that envelop an area cannot be blocked.
