[hide]Masquerade[edit]
At 3rd level, a masked one gains proficiency with the disguise kit and it uses its Charisma + its proficiency bonus to calculate the DC against its disguises.
It gains proficiency in either Deception or Persuasion or Performance or Sleight of Hand, if it hasn't it already. By 9th level your proficiency bonus doubles when using the chosen skill (this increase does not stack with Expertise). If a character fails to see through your disguise (as well as any disguise granted by following features), you have advantage for your first attack against it during combat, if the target would not otherwise consider you hostile.
It can use a Deception, Persuasion, Performance or Sleight of Hand check to substitute another skill check, if the skill check is chooses can be contextually used in place of another for a specific action, such as a Performance check instead of an Athletic check. It may do so once per proficiency modifier, restoring its uses after a short or long rest.
Persona[edit]
At 3rd level the masked one can perfectly impersonate fictional characters that it made up, called Personas. To do so it must wear special mask (it obtains one for each Persona it has), that represent each Persona. Wearing them it can use an action to replicate on itself the spell disguise self, with no verbal or somatic components, to transform into the Persona, changing voice and appearance. Each time a new Persona is created the masked one chooses a skill or a tool. Everytime it dons that Persona, if it doesn't already have proficiency it gains it, or if it does it gains the benefits of Expertise for its choice (which doesn't stack with actual Expertise).
This is not an illusion, rather a transformation, but it can be spotted anyway through an Investigation check with a DC of 8 + its proficiency bonus + its Charisma modifier but rolling with disadvantage.
It gains a number of Personas equal to its proficiency bonus and it can use the disguise self effect once per proficiency modifier, regaining uses after a short or long rest.
Personas may be changed when gaining a new level, or one at the time by impersonating the new one for a whole, consecutive week. The maximum number of Personas the masked one has doesn't change.
The effect doesn't otherwise register as magical. The masks are a class feature rather than an item, and losing it or having it destroyed doesn't affect your ability to use this feature.
Drop the Act[edit]
At level 3, a masked one gains the ability drop a Persona it's currently posing as, to end a single negative effect on itself, using a bonus action or reaction. This prevents it from donning that Persona again until the next short or long rest.
Copycat[edit]
At 9th level a masked one may, as a bonus action, copy in its memory a class feature (except for spellcasting), racial, special ability or single spell that it sees and is activated by an action. It may then imitate it with the same kind of action needed for that ability. It must replicate an action within an hour from seeing it, using it once.
If the feature or ability has variables or potency tied to class levels, the masked one uses half of the target's levels to determine them. It may only copy from a target with equal or less HD or class level than its own class levels.
It may do so twice per long rest.
Identity Thief[edit]
At 9th level a masked one can steal other's identities. By touching someone as an action it can steal its face and replicate on itself the effects of the spell alter self (only for the change shape option) for one hour, with no need for concentration, but it's only able to take the target's form and the effect ceases if the masked one becomes unconscious. The target must be willing, unaware, incapacitated or bound to use this feature. If the target is dead, its face must be intact.
This feature may be used on unwilling targets but it requires a skill check using Deception, Persuasion or Sleight of Hand (depending on the context) against a DC of 10 + the victim's Wisdom modifier + its proficiency bonus if proficient in Perception.
When successfully using this feature, at the masked one choice, it may swap its appearance with its target and this swap lasts as long as the identity theft does.
It can use this feature once per Charisma modifier and uses are restored after a long rest.
Veiled Mask[edit]
At 13th level the masked one can deceive even the most powerful divinations. Twice per long rest, as an action, it may replicate on itself the effects of arcanist's magic aura and nondetection, lasting an hour.
When stealing an identity, it can consume one of its Copycat's uses to obtain its effects for a feature or special action of its target, and this new ability lasts until its transformation does. When doing so, it does not need to have seen the ability in action. It gains two more uses of Copycat.
Thousand Faces[edit]
At 17th level the masked one can maintain the effects of Persona and Identity Thief indefinitely, unless it wills to end them. It becomes immune to transmutation magic, unless beneficial, and it gains advantage on rolls against divinations and checks made to read its mind or reveal its lies.
It also gains two more uses of Copycat, and may activate three copied abilities at the same time when stealing an identity.
It may use its own level to determine the level-dependent variables or potency of the abilities it copies.
