This small bird is wrapped in red and gold feathers which make it look like its on fire. Moments later it erupts into actual flame, though it remains completely unharmed.
A very small and diminutive form of the legendary phoenix, tiny phoenixes retain the power of rebirth and fire. They usually use this as a defensive measure, as they are timid as actual birds. They usually only go on the offense in defense of others. They have a keen eyesight, and fly very fast and high.
Tiny phoenixes understand but do not speak Ignan. Some forms are extraplanar, born on the elemental plane of fire. They eat and sleep, but do not need to breathe.
Combat[edit]
If forced in a fight, the tiny phoenix is a durable opponent with high health and regeneration. Without the proper damage, they can continue to fight for a long time. They are intelligent enough to think of clever and indirect solutions to combat.
Fire Absorption (Ex): Not only is the tiny phoenix immune to fire damage, they recover 1 hp of damage for every 3 damage they otherwise would have taken.
Immunities (Ex): Tiny phoenixes are immune to ability damage, ability drain, and death effects.
Rebirth (Su): If a tiny phoenix dies, it transforms into a diminutive crystal egg (hardness 20, 50 hp). Within 2d4+2 rounds, the egg opens, revealing the tiny phoenix at full hit points with all positive and negative status effects removed from it. If the egg is destroyed, the tiny phoenix is slain forever.
Regeneration (Ex): Bypassed by cold damage and evil.
Shroud of Flame (Su): As a free action the tiny phoenix can wrap themselves in flame. All their natural attacks deal an additional 1d6 fire damage, and all non-reach melee attackers take 1d6 fire damage. The shroud of flame cannot heal the tiny phoenix (via Fire Absorption), but it can catch other objects on fire. The tiny phoenix often does so to heal itself quicker.
Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will- flare; 2/day- burning hands (DC 14), cure light wounds; 1/day- produce flame, protection from evil. The saving throws are Charisma based.
Familiar[edit]
Tiny phoenixes can be used as familiars with the Improved Familiar feat and at least caster level 6th.
