Possible Dumb Question[edit]

When it comes to applying the Converted Undead qualities, what specific undead would this apply to? My immediate guess is Skeletons and Zombies, Wights and Wraiths as well. As a follow up to this question, Regardless of what it applies to, the Hit Dice of the base type (D8 for example) is retained, what about the Quantity of Hit Dice? As I've been reading it it seems mostly appropriate to be a sort of 1:1 Conversion almost, retaining Hit Dice and as a result the Health of the creature being converted and turning it into an Undead Type rather than its original following the rules, but otherwise maintaining more or less all of its stats. Would this be the correct way of handling it? --Xandar (talk) 21:19, 10 August 2018 (MT)

I don't believe it's a dumb question, but I may have been vague due to the distinctions between particular undead templates. For example, the skeleton has a direct 1-1 conversion if memory serves while the zombie gains two HD per each one of the base creature. I am generally in favor of HD numbers corresponding 1:1 with Challenge Rating (mirroring the way it does for players) so I try to go by that in my content, but I believe this was written to not be so exclusive. Your solution seems appropriate, in my opinion, although with the reservation that it could be subject to change based on specific templates. - TG Cid (talk) 12:22, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
Very cool, in that case I fully prefer this to the vanilla Undead Type. That had been my interpretation of how to handle converting something, but I wanted to be sure that was appropriate rather than there being a way it was intended to function that I just didn't pick up on. This makes making certain undead, skeletons and zombies especially, quite a bit more interesting and should make an upcoming necromancer player in my game very happy. Thanks for the response! --Xandar (talk) 17:01, 14 August 2018 (MT)
