While being fairly powerful, this class doesn't really allow casters to do anything new. They're stuck with the same stuff that they would have if they continued advancing in their base class (for the most part), and primarily get to cast their spells more often. The class itself feels lackluster and devoid of any improvements to the character's staff apart from making it hit better (though what kind of caster will use it in melee combat?) and allowing them to cast their spells more often.
