Talk:Orc Paragon (3.5e Racial Paragon Class)
From Dungeons and Dragons Wiki
Better as racial substitution levels?[edit]
This paragon is, obviously, quite barbarian specific. Some of the features here seem to be just a straight-up replacement of Barbarian class features, like Call the Horde. Thus I wonder if the non-essentials here like the bonus feat can be cut, and this can instead be done as racial substitution levels. The rage healing can possibly replace fast healing (that makes orc barbarians pretty strong since the fast healing is out-of-combat only). The weapon tricks can be added at level 1. Otherwise this is actually a pretty tough sell to take over Barbarian levels, because Barbarian levels are so good. -- Surgo, not logged in.
- The homebrew orc race linked at the top of the page can by its very nature rage as a 1st level barbarian, so the Rage Dice and related abilities are essentially applicable to any orc regardless of class, although it's definitely still barbarian specific even given that caveat. Since orcs aren't really the type of monstrous creature that could get a lot of easy, generic stuff, I thought this was appropriate and can work even if the orc in question isn't a barbarian, although it obviously favors him to do so. - TG Cid (talk) 04:31, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
