Weird Requirement[edit]

So, if I play a caster that runs around with a burnt feat and a burnt spell, everyday, for the rest of my career, instead of preparing other more useful spells, then I lose the feat that this flaw gave me? Also, similar requirements is vague: do I also lose my feat if I learn Drow Sign language or invent and teach all of my allies Morse code? It doesn't seem to make sense...--Change=Chaos. Period. Burnt feat and spell, what do you mean? You only lose the flaw if you gain telepathy. -- Eiji-kun 03:17, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Persistent Telepathy. 1 burnt spell + 1 burnt feat= -1 feat?--Change=Chaos. Period. SC 00:48, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Persist spell is long lasting, not permanent. It's a fine loophole but one thats "expensive" to pull off. -- Eiji-kun 09:35, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Same thing then with Drow Sign Language and inventing Morse Code?--Change=Chaos. Period. SC 03:48, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, you can learn sign language, but as stated tongues will not translate your non-verbal language. Thus EVERYONE will need to know sign language. Otherwise, you can pantomime. Also, since no race starts out with "sign language" as a starting language, it'll cost a language slot or skill points to learn. -- Eiji-kun 03:52, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Spellcasting[edit]

Is there a provision that would allow someone with this flaw to cast spells? Surgo 16:31, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Yes. If you can cast spells without verbal components (because it has no verbal or because Silent Spell) then cast away. -- Eiji-kun 22:58, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Seems like a sufficiently important trade-off that I'd be happy with just saying "you can cast spells regardless". Yeah, it gets you around Silence, but you also can't talk. Surgo 00:48, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
You think it is? I will ponder it. -- Eiji-kun 09:35, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
If you want a middle option, you could add text here to the effect that if you ever gain the Silent Spell feat, applying it does not increase the spell's level. It's still rather harsh and expensive to be a spellcaster with this flaw, but it's not like flaws ever target all shticks evenly anyway. - Tarkisflux Talk 16:28, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Middle road taken. -- Eiji-kun 02:37, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
