Can I rate this? Well, contributor, not co-author, so I think I'm good. You've made mental bleedout, and that is awesome!

Recovery[edit]

Perhaps you should make it 1/hour, or at least 1/minute? Seems too easy to use madness spells with this alongside others without any real disadvantage. Even at 1/minute you could cast a number of madness spells every encounter without any real downsides. --Ghostwheel (talk) 15:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Madness cost in spells have a recovery of 'No' though. It does not recover until you next rest. --Leziad (talk) 17:20, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
In that case, is there any reason a wizard or cleric wouldn't simply prepare a number of madness spells that up to their cap, as long as they didn't meet any madness-inducing creatures? Flavorfully, I also think making it recovery per minutes would fit better. --Ghostwheel (talk) 18:16, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
I will personaly houserule that Madness only recovers when a charekter have a full rest (and then only by wis mod), and healing spells only removes their level-3 madness when cast (But then I like realy dark play). Maybe have it never recover when under stress (in combat) this way it can build up a become scary in madness incounters and still be removed quick with a little downtime.Wildmage Talk 18:43, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
As per minute recovery, I could see that but I would need to revise all spells and creature inducing madness. So Im gonna muse over it for a few hours. As for wizard/sorcerer, well it a perfectly valid option, however the higher their dark insight (and ability to cast dark insight spell) the lower their cap is. There the risk that indeed they either meet a madness inducing creature (which is really bad since it would mean they mindbreak in the fight) or they could get caught in one of their effect. Worse if they take any wisdom damage or gain dark insight their limit will go lower, potentially mind breaking from the madness they accumulated. --Leziad (talk) 18:51, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Another salient point to the meta is that having it be per-round increases the book-keeping within an encounter considerably, since people might very well forget to reduce their Madness by one, which can be detrimental to the system, especially if they're using some of the more complicated (engaging? :-P) classes. --Ghostwheel (talk) 20:55, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
