Two Questions[edit]

As I was cleaning up this article to conform to formatting standards, I found two things which I wanted to ask about: firstly, what's the cost of a loregem storing a 0-level spell? Secondly, I find the notion that psigems should cost four times as much as a loregem pretty offensive on every level, and the reasoning being the 'versatility' of powers is about as thin as paper, since powers are, on average, weaker than spells of a similar level. Overcharging people who use a weaker optional system for the same benefits their caster cousins get seems odd on every level. - MisterSinister 00:11, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

This. That psigem upcharge is absurd. Maaaaaybe if you could pick from outside your class, maaaaybe it could justify up to x2 cost. Poor psychics got the shaft hard here. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 12:27, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Cost is x4 for psionic gems, FWIW. --Ghostwheel (talk) 18:01, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
That is what I'm complaining about, yes... so.... uuuhh.... -- Eiji-kun (talk) 21:07, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Dunno, giving this to the Wilder is a pretty big boost compared to the number of powers they have available... :-3 --Ghostwheel (talk) 13:50, 9 December 2016 (MST)
It make them more versatile sure, but more powerful? Yes, but probably not worth that giant price tag. --Leziad (talk) 14:02, 9 December 2016 (MST)
In addition, its hardly Wilders who are the only example of a limited spell list benefiting from additional spells known. Sorcerers of course, battle sorcerers even more, and I guarantee you there are probably more casters out there with minimal spell lists that would benefit just as much as Wilders would. In short: there's nothing special about Wilders at all. So why the special price? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 19:21, 9 December 2016 (MST)
Mostly because at high levels, very low level powers can be super-useful and do high levels of damage (or status effects, etc). On the other hand, low level spells are almost useless outside of niche utility purposes or "I have no juice left, might as well fire magic missiles". --Ghostwheel (talk) 02:45, 10 December 2016 (MST)
No 9th level power is worth 90% of your WBL at level 17, nevermind something like 20% of your WBL at 20th. It more economically efficient to just use psychic chirurgery. --Leziad (talk) 03:18, 10 December 2016 (MST)
Never have liked psychic chirurgery, it's always felt extremely cheap to me. That said, I've changed it; does that look decent? I'm still not sure I like wilders having oodles of low-level powers with how limited their number of powers known is. --Ghostwheel (talk) 12:54, 11 December 2016 (MST)
