I am always in favor of more skills, especially those of the physical sort. Many an companion and other animal-level things should have skills even if they lack the smarts.

The only reason I'm taking this is if I have a negative Intelligence. And if that's the case, it's a straight up boost in power.

There are other traits that when minmaxed properly are just straight boost in power. A bit less blatant than this one, but the results are more extreme. --Leziad (talk) 21:31, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

I added a downside that is somewhat hard to totally suppress, also suppressing it is bad by itself (putting 1 ranks in every skill). --Leziad (talk) 21:40, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Let's take a look at the traits you linked to, in order to see if there is actually a straight boost in power virtually all the time.
  • Void Born: Are you going to choose divine? If so, you're not going to get healed. Arcane? No super-good buffs for you which can often apply to any character... or half the magic items out there that need to be activated. Lastly... Well, even if psionics are in a game, they're far more often used by PCs than by NPCs. So yeah, there are some major ways to shoot yourself in the foot there.
  • Ambidextrous: Do you ever plan on charging? Making ranged attacks? How about move-attacking? There are tons of times when you can't simply full attack, especially as a dual-wielder who rarely has reach. In any of those situations, you take a penalty to attack.
I think it's very easy to see that neither of these is overpowered always. In certain situations (ones that come up VERY often, at that), they are a hindrance to the character.
As for the downside on this trait... there are relatively few skills that you're going to care having an additional -3 on (and many of them you get for free as part of this trait), so I really don't see that as a good balance to getting 4 skills as class skills. Still, it's not as crazy as it was before, so I'm going to change my rating. --Ghostwheel (talk) 22:12, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Well in the current revision you suffer from having a low intelligence, so technically the rating reason is no longer accurate. As for the other two traits, heh, it a matter of perspective and should probably be adressed on their respective talk page. Personally I think it acceptable and inevitable that characters will take traits that will advantage them the most with minimal repercussions. --Leziad (talk) 22:24, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

A straight-up power boost in most circumstances, this trait is straight up more powerful than Mad Skills, a feat designed to give you more skills. All you need to do is have 10 or less Int.

Plus, written as is, you could argue that even the drawback becomes a benefit at 9 or less Int.

Uh, I do not think Sulacu's concerns have been addressed. This still has pretty much no downside for idiotic characters. --Luigifan18 (talk) 15:30, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

She asked me herself to block the rating. Also there plenty of trait where you can minmax so there no downside. --Leziad (talk) 21:31, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
