Article Balance[edit]

I'm still working on accurately identifying classes as low, moderate, high or very high. I guessed moderate. If that's wrong, let me know, and I'll change it. -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 08:14, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Since you give it a save-or-suck ability multiple times per day at a relatively low level, I'd go for VH, even if the rest doesn't fit as well. But that one ability is really freakin' powerful. --Ghostwheel (talk) 17:29, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Good point. What if I made the Strength of Conviction last for 1 round, instead of 1d4, then bumped the whole class up to high?Somehownotsingle (talk) 17:38, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
I think that would fit very well :-) --Ghostwheel (talk) 17:44, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Tweaks for Combat Style[edit]

Tried to give the Combat Styles a little more love (esp TWF) by adding in Armor Expert/Armor Master and making the divine combat style bonuses a little more powerful. I don't think anything I did bumps the class from H to VH, but let me know if you disagree. Still trying to figure out the rating system.Somehownotsingle (talk) 22:45, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Done Tweaking ... Probably ...[edit]

Alright, I think I'm ready to leave this class alone for a while. I wanted to create a fun-to-play Ranger prestige class (there aren't that many good ones) that would allow for a little "holy warrior" flavor (a build that I think intrigues others besides me), but without forcing the player down the Pally trail. That's why I removed Divine Grace and added a general Smite class ability as a prerequisite, as there are quite a few ways to gain a Smite ability in D&D.

I also wanted to make the prestige class rewarding for those who opted to have an animal companion (celestial template), as well as for those who decided to go the Sword of the Arcane Order route (ability to advance any spell-casting class, synchronized spellcasting class ability). I suppose I might go back later and try to account for some additional combat styles (besides the traditional archery and TWF), but I feel that the class still accommodates a wide range of ranger builds as is. In case you were wondering, Convincing Martyr is a nod to the fact that the Holy Hunter must delay or altogether give up access to the Ranger's Camouflage and Hide in Plain Sight abilities. It's not as powerful, but a Holy Hunter could also potentially get it at CL 11. I think it's a reasonable way for a holy warrior to "hide" temporarily on the battlefield.Somehownotsingle (talk) 21:49, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Other Combat Styles Accounted For[edit]

I went ahead and created divine combat styles for Two-Handed and Sword and Board.Somehownotsingle (talk) 17:56, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Played?[edit]

I noticed a lot of hits for this class, so I was wondering if anyone has used it in a game yet. If so, I would love some feedback about what worked/didn't work, what you liked/didn't like, etc. Or, if you adopted the class (or any part of it), I would love to know that, too. Basically, I'm looking for any feedback from people who have field tested this class, or aspects of it. Thanks!Somehownotsingle (talk) 21:22, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
