What is [W] about? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 02:44, 6 September 2017 (MDT)
- It's from DDO, I just adopted it. Here you go. I'd have just linked it in the prerequisites section, but the comma in the class name seems to always screw up any linking I try to do in prereqs. The comma is there because there's a third intended class called Ascendant, but another user already has an Ascendant class and I wanted to avoid name clashes, so all of the classes for this project will have "Project Atrea" in the name.
- Baleful Rift (Su): Beginning at 4th level, your Rift Slash deals an additional +1[W] to targets struck, where [W] is equal to the weapon's base damage. For example, a Greatsword normally deals 2d6 damage, plus Strength x1.5 and enhancements. At 4th level, the same Greatsword, if used to make a Rift Slash, would deal 4d6 damage, plus Strength x1.5 and enhancements. This extra damage increases by an additional +1[W] every 6 levels thereafter (+2[W] at 10th level, +3[W] at 16th level, etc).
- So more or less, it's bonus damage based on what the weapon's damage was originally, rather than an arbitrary dice like with Sneak Attack, Flaming, etc. This does of course lend itself toward using two-handed weapons in preference of all else (Which is the trend in most cases anyway, due to better damage, fewer rolls and cheaper enchanting), but that's what my weapon speed alternate rule is for, though most people admittedly aren't going to use that. --Zhenra-Khal (talk) 03:25, 6 September 2017 (MDT)
