Ratings[edit]

Not too powerful, but strong enough to add flavor to any class and add RP possibilities, as well.

Feedback Appreciated

My main concerns are:

1) Is EL 7 the appropriate entry point for this class? In other words, are the powers the Exiled Ruler gets at levels 1-5 appropriate for an EL 8-12 character to be running around with?

2) Is Inspirational Battle Speech over-powered? I'm considering dropping the initial bonus t0 +2 at level 4, then +3 at level 5 (as opposed to the current +4 and +5, respectively).

Any other feedback welcome, too, of course! -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 22:53, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Inspirational Battle Speech is a bit strong, and dropping it down by a point or two might be a good idea, yes.
Noble Self Sacrifice doesn't need that one-week use restriction; it already only triggers on killing attacks against creatures within 10 ft. It should probably be an immediate action.
How is a panicked creature supposed to take a move action to look at the Ruler?
Master-At-Arms would be very wimpy in most campaigns, except in the case of items that break upon use, where it's overpowered.
It's really strange that some of the court members are clearly providing benefits to the Ruler by being within arms' reach, but the court members cannot be attacked or interacted with by other creatures.
What happens when the Ruler regains their position? Do they lose all class abilities? :P --Foxwarrior (talk) 03:31, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!
Okay, fixed Battle Speech.
I fixed Noble Self-Sacrifice, per your suggestion, as well. I was worried about it being overpowered, but it's not like the Ruler goes around saving everyone, willy nilly. If he dies while using the power, the party is down a member for the rest of the encounter.
You're right about the panicked creature, and I fixed the mechanics on Kingly Presence to solve that issue
I gave up on Master-At-Arms and created a new major court member, the Field Marshall, to replace him
Hopefully, I made the interaction with court members seem more natural. My real concern is that I didn't want the Exiled Ruler suddenly gaining a free cohort.
Heh. Well, I guess if he regains his position, he can just have everyone killed who thinks he shouldn't keep his class abilities? Of course, that might interfere with the whole non-evil thing ... -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 04:27, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
The court members probably need some of those vital health and save stat things.
Why only non-Evil? Can't Orc Warlords and Drow Priestesses be deposed too? --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:52, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough on the evil thing. I fixed that, and also tweaked the Archbishop court member entry to account for that.
Sigh. I really don't want to mess with court member stats, so I took a lazy cop-out and made interaction take place through a series of magic stones. I'm a little ashamed, I suppose, but ... magic! -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 05:12, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Hmmm, of course, it would be odd for an evil ruler to display self-sacrifice. Maybe I'll tweak that ability to have an evil option, as well. -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 05:24, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Class Not Showing Up on List of Prestige Classes[edit]

Any reason for that on my end? Anything I messed up in the code, or something? -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 23:16, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

It'll show up eventually, it just takes some time to get around to performing the necessary Jobs. If you're wondering, you can check by going Edit->Preview on the list page. --50.47.36.22 23:23, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! I've made enough code errors on here to be a little paranoid! Ha! -- Somehownotsingle (talk) 23:29, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Played?[edit]

I noticed a lot of hits for this class, so I was wondering if anyone has used it in a game yet. If so, I would love some feedback about what worked/didn't work, what you liked/didn't like, etc. Or, if you adopted the class (or any part of it), I would love to know that, too. Basically, I'm looking for any feedback from people who have field tested this class, or aspects of it. Thanks!Somehownotsingle (talk) 21:26, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
