The sword is marked with six dots, from which small cracks can be seen within the ring.
This longsword is a curious weapon, for it can only be used six times before it shatters and becomes naught but a broken sword. Magical and masterwork, but lacking a +1 enhancement, it still counts as magic for the purpose of bypassing DR. Whenever it makes a successful hit against a creature the hit is always a confirmed critical hit, even if the creature would otherwise be immune to critical damage. However, effects which activate on a critical hit do not activate with this sword unless it would be a confirmed critical hit in the first place.
After the sixth successful strike, the sword shatters. Divinations cannot reveal the number of remaining charges in the blade, and thus discovered swords come with 1d6 charges remaining. Discount the price by 250 gp per missing charge.
The mysterious enhancement is sometimes found on other weapons, but never anything more than a x2 critical.
