Spellsword Fusilier[edit]

A variant of the Sword Fusilier meant for spellcasters, it is identical except for the change listed below. You cannot take levels of both Spellsword Fusilier and Sword Fusilier.

Entry Requirements  
Base Attack Bonus: +3. 
Skills: Craft (Weaponsmithing) 5 ranks, Profession (Soldier) 6 ranks. 
Feats: Combat Casting, Point Blank Shot, Weapon Focus (Gun Sword). 
Spellcasting: Must be able to cast 2nd level arcane spells. 
Weapon Proficiency: Must be proficient with the Gun Sword.

Class Features[edit]

Spellcasting: At each level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in an arcane spellcasting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one arcane spellcasting class before becoming a spellsword fusilier, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.

Imbue Bullet (Su): At 2nd level, a spellsword fusilier gains the ability to place an area spell upon a a bullet. When the bullet is fired, the spell’s area is centered where the bullet impacts, even if the spell could normally be centered only on the caster. This ability allows the fusilier to use the gun’s range rather than the spell’s range. A spell cast in this way uses its standard casting time and the spellsword fusilier can fire the bullet as part of the casting. The bullet must be fired during the round that the casting is completed or the spell is wasted. If the bullet misses, the spell is wasted.

At 9th level, you may fire the imbued bullet with a melee shot of your gun sword, effectively discharging the spell with a melee attack rather than a ranged attack. When doing so, the target does not gain the benefits of evasion or improvised evasion and the spell deals an additional +1 damage per dice. As per imbue bullet, the spell is wasted if the attack misses.
