Created by masters of burglary and stealth, Surreptitious Bandit is an extraordinary discipline for the art of sneaking around. Invented forty years after the fall of the Temple of Nine Swords by a guild of thieves, Surreptitious Bandit has been adopted by thieves all over the world as a means to improve their sneaking ability.
Any class with access to martial disciplines can substitute one of the disciplines available to them with the Surreptitious Bandit discipline.
Game Mechanics of the Surreptitious Bandit
Available To: Any
Discipline Skill: Move Silently (Dex) - Someone who makes a lot of noise while stealing from museums in the depth of night isn't very sneaky, now are they?
Discipline Weapons: Unarmed strike, Dagger, Punching Dagger, Spiked Gauntlet, Sap, Dart, Light Crossbow, Shortbow, Composite Shortbow, Hand Crossbow, and Repeating Light Crossbow. - Surreptitious Bandits prefer to use the smaller sorts of weapons, often with the possibility of ranged attacks.
Saves: 10 + maneuver level + Dexterity modifier.

1st-Level Maneuvers
- Hugging the Wall: Counter — Boost hide check or hide from a touching enemy.
- Lemur-Tail Larceny: Strike — Steal an item or lurch towards a location.
- Packrat Retrieves the Gadget: Boost — Quick Draw, but for anything.
- Punk Robs the Store: Stance — Pilfer things surreptitiously.
- Scuttling Centipede Step: Rush — While you are moving you can pick up items on the ground, open doors, and sheathe weapons mid-movement.
2nd-Level Maneuvers
- Blackjack Attack: Strike — Deal +2d8 damage to flat-footed opponent. Another +1d8 with a Sap.
- Footsteps of the Slug: Stance — Move at full speed stealthily.
- Up the Walls: Rush — Move quickly, ignore angle of surface.
- Vital Hesitation: Counter — Rescue yourself or an ally from a trap
3rd-Level Maneuvers
- Cunning Fox Camouflage: Stance — Hide in plain sight
- Distracted Foe Misses the Thief: Boost — Hide while observed.
- Evade the Arcane Eye: Stance — You can elude even magical detection, as the nondetection spell.
- Silencing Surprise: Strike — Target is too shocked to speak
- Springless Step: Stance — Don't spring traps.
4th-Level Maneuvers
- Crane Catches the Fish: Boost — Boost hide check more the longer you stay still.
- Mongoose Hunts the Snake: Boost — Observe surrounding with a Move Silently check.
- Sandshuffle Step: Stance — Become undetectable by almost all special senses.
- Torched Rabbit Springs for Bushes: Counter — Improved evasion, then move and hide.
5th-Level Maneuvers
- Cricket Hops on Head: Rush — Move fast through occupied and difficult terrain.
- Octopus Squeezes Through Mesh: Rush — Move reasonably fast through unreasonably small holes.
- Unassuming Ogre Walk: Stance — Hide while observed.
6th-Level Maneuvers
- Fists in a Knife Fight: Counter — Grab foe's weapon and hit them with it.
- Master Hides the Newbie: Stance — Conceal nearby allies.
- Squirrel Trades for Nut: Strike — Attack and swap held item. Target might not notice.
- Turncoat Takedown: Strike — Draw a weapon and attack with it for +5d8 damage and flatfooted. Deal another +3d8 damage if they are not your enemy.
7th-Level Maneuvers
- Assassin Acupuncturist: Stance [X-Discipline] — Use Assassin Needles with legendary proficiency.
- Knife Slits the Throat: Strike — Deal +7d8 damage and silence flat-footed opponent.
- Scurrying Rat Dance: Rush — Move very fast, use Move Silently for checks.
8th-Level Maneuvers
- Abrupt Withdrawal: Counter — Move and hide.
- Hunting Komodo Slice: Strike — Attack for +8d6 damage, delay all effects of attack until later time.
- Mosquito Biting Giant: Strike — Attack without being easy to see.
- Seagull Divebombs the Elephant: Stance — Deal 4d8 extra damage and move on every attack if hidden.
9th-Level Maneuvers
- Glass Lurks in Water: Boost — Become completely imperceptible.
- Quiverstep: Stance — Y'know Surreptitious Bandit's penchant for replacing various skills with Move Silently? Now you can go bugnuts with that.
- Snake Reverse Molts: Strike — Melee attack for +9d6 damage. If you succeed, disguise yourself as the target.
