You draw in entities from the far realm known as phantasmal feeders, eldritch blobs with fangs but no actual capacity for biting. Instead the fangs grip opponents as they draw out their life force. You summon one phantasmal feeder, plus an additional one at caster level 3rd and every odd level beyond, to a maximum of 5 at caster level 9th. As a swift action you can assign the feeders to any targets within 60 ft. They make a touch attack using your attack bonus, and if successful latch onto the creature. At the start of the creatures turn, the creature takes 1d4+1 points of damage per feeder. Attached feeders can persist beyond their normal 60 ft range, otherwise they vanish.
Feeders are not true creatures, but they may be targeted, attacked, and destroyed. You can remove a single feeder as a move action or multiple feeders as a standard action. Feeders are left dazed for 1 round after being shaken off after which they can be reassigned or attack the same target. Any amount of damage destroys feeders, meaning area of effects are very effective. However feeders are immune to acid, electric, fire, and sonic damage. Feeders have an AC of 12 (+2 size), 1 hp, and 1 effective HD. They use your saving throws.
Feeders persist for 1 minute or until destroyed or they detach while out of range. Invoking this invocation a second time dismisses the first array of feeders. For the purpose of interacting with class abilities, feeders are considered "aberrations" and associated with elder evils.
When you gain Dark invocations, the energy the feeders drain is transferred to you as healing.
