This golden staff has a glowing orb on the end. A close up look reveals the sparkling lights to be tiny galaxies trapped in a glass ball.

The starsurfer staff has the following spells:

  • cometfallSpC (uncapped damage, 1 charge)
  • haste (1 charge)
  • meteor swarm (untyped damage instead of fire and 1 meteor per 5/levels, 1 charge)
  • sunburst (uncapped damage, 1 charge)
  • slow (1 charge)

The staff may be used by anyone, counting its spells as both arcane and divine versions, as needed. In addition to functioning like a normal staff, the starsurfer staff automatically allows you to know where you are in relation to other major landmarks. As long as you can see the sky, you cannot be lost. In addition, while held you and all allies in a 30 foot radius from the staff benefit from a constant adapt body effect, which proves useful for its third effect.

As a full round action the staff converts you and all creatures that remain in a 30 foot radius of you into beings made of light. You gain a fly speed of luminal (perfect), or about 1,117,692 miles a round. You become incorporeal, though you cannot pass through opaque objects, you can only travel 30 feet down through water, and you cannot make any attacks. You can pass through cracks as small as 2 inches. Darkness effects deal 1 point of damage per spell level for each round you remain in them. Your body illuminates the area as a torch.

While in light form, you and your fellow passengers do not need to eat, sleep, or breath and you do not age. Fellow passengers can leave the 30 foot radius around you, but once they do they return to normal and the effect ends for them. Returning to normal is another full round action. Light-form can last as long as you like, though it has a cooldown time of 24 hours since the wielder last returned to normal. Wielders typically use this power to traverse planets at the speed of light, some traveling for hundreds of thousands of years just to cross their galaxy.

Even if the starsurfer staff is depleted of all charges, it retains all other benefits. It naturally restores 1 charge per night it spends exposed under the stars (that is, not underground or indoors).

Prerequisites: Craft Epic Staff, endure elements, meteor swarm, polymorph any object.
Cost to Create: 195,000 gp, 15,600 EXP, 195 days.
