Splinterscab Tonic[edit]

The vial is clear as water, but add a single drop of blood and watch as it rapidly crystalizes into sharp starbursts.

Originally developed to quickly scab over wounds, it proved a better weapon than a curative. When in contact with blood or an open wound, it crystalizes, forming sharp painful spikes that injure the body. This alchemical substance can be used as a sort of injury poison, or splashed on an open wound (that is, anyone not at full hit points). The fluid crystalizes at the wound, stopping any pre-existing bleeding effects but causing the creature to take 1d4 points of piercing damage whenever they engage in any strenuous action that would cause injury for someone with the disabled condition. Damage done by the splinterscab tonic cannot be healed or regenerated while the crystals remain.

The crystals can be broken and swept off with a DC 10 Heal check as a standard action, DC 20 as a move action, and DC 30 as a swift action. The crystals also are removed if the creature takes even a single point of sonic damage.

Craft (Alchemy) DC 20. Market Price 100 gp.
