:This means the knight's damage is capped at 40d6, and he is dependent on the actions of his opponent to get that damage. A rogue at a similar point will do 70 or 80d6 (see [[Halfling Hurler (3.5e Optimized Character Build)|the Halfling Hurler for more on that]]) + 112-160 with Craven, and he should be able to deal this damage more or less every round without inordinate difficulty. The knight also has other uses for swift actions later, so he won't be getting his bonus damage all that often.
