In times of great unrest and awakening evil, the bodies of deceased clerics are voluntarily burnt down into ash. Filled with a strong will to repel evil even in death, a pinch of this valuable ash imbues a magical flame with a strong purifying effect.
When you cast a fire spell enhanced with sanctified bone ash, you make a turn undead attempt. The turning check and turning damage work works as normal, but uses your dominant spellcasting ability score instead of Charisma, and the caster level that determines the level of creatures affected is supplied by the person to whom the ashes belonged in life. This is also the caster level of the item itself. Turning damage is 2d6 + twice the spell's level + your dominant spellcasting ability score modifier. You do not need to have the ability to turn undead. Synergy bonuses from [[SRD:Knowledge (religion) and bonuses from turning-related feats apply as normal.
Any undead creature or creature with the evil subtype caught within the effect area of the bone ash-enhanced spell is subject to the turning (provided enough turning damage remains). In the case that evil outsiders are turned, they have a turn resistance equal to half their spell resistance, rounded down. Creatures that are successfully turned by the bone ash treat the spell as empowered in addition to the usual effects of turnin. Undead destroyed by the turning are effectively consecrated to prevent them from being raised as undead for as many days as the bone ash's caster level. Evil outsiders 'destroyed' by the turning are instantly banished to their home plane.
