<onlyinclude>{{3.5e Trait
|name=Translator Required
|summary=You live life subbed. Or is it dubbed?
|benefit=You can understand and speak languages that you do not understand. You must make a special intelligence check (1d20 + your character level + [[Int]] modifier) against DC 15 (or higher if unusually obscure of a language). If successful, you can speak the language for 24 hours, though language is stilted and obviously translated. If you fail the DC, you can still speak but the grammar is so bad, meaning is lost, while if you fail the DC by 5 or more you say something either opposite, rude, or otherwise not intended.
|drawback=You actually cannot speak normally without the translator, as you either have speaking issues, a thick accent, or only know an obscure language without your translator. Choose one of your worn or held items: usually an amulet or ring. As long as you have the item, you can translate correctly. If you don't have the item, no one can understand what you are saying. Lastly, without the translator you suffer a 10% spell failure chance on spells with verbal components. Your translator item radiates faint divination and counts as a magic item, caster level 3rd.
|special=
|roleplayingideas=Turns out you were a 10,000 year old caveman defrosted and only speak Ungah, which no one else speaks these days. Or perhaps your tongue was mauled and you can only mutter now.
