Fighting with Vehicles
Be it ground based tank or space borne craft, all combat is similar. A pilot within takes control, using the pilot's mental ability scores for any checks and saving throws in place of the ship. Pilots and other crew typically possess total cover from their opponents, and are typically unable to be targeted. For all intents and purposes, they are all one giant creature, that being the ship. The pilot controls the movement of the ship and can activate one weapon a round. If he has additional weapons and crew to man the weapons he can fire more than a single weapon a round. A ship can have and fire as many weapons as there is room on the ship and crew to man them, up to a pre-set limit on the frame of the ship itself. Ships are considered fortifications and as such halve the damage of any non-siege weapon ranged attacks. Siege weapons deal normal damage and may deal critical hits against vehicles (but non-siege weapons cannot critical). Weapons designed for vehicles are typically considered siege weapons, and are marked as such.
Typically in ship to ship combat both targets remain mobile, or continue to take defensive measures even when staying still so creatures cannot aim for certain ship components such as their engines, their cockpit, or their weapons. However they can attempt to aim for these ship components by making a called shot at -4 penalty to the attack or skill check required to fire their weapon. This does not guarantee the The component will be damagedand ship only take half damage (round down), but if a critical hit is obtained they may instead damage the vehicle component itself. This is similar to sundering a magical item on a creature. If the damage is enough it may break or outright destroy the component, dealing appropriate penalties. The loss of weapons would prevent vehicles from using that weapon in combat. The loss of engines may cause the vehicle to become immobile and unable to dodge attacks. The loss of the cockpit may kill its crew and also immobilize it. As with creatures, critical hits must be confirmed.
Attack rolls for weapons are based off the attack rolls of its gunners (typically BAB + Dex for ranged weapons + misc). Vehicles can move and attack with all weapons. Facing is important, so not all weapons might be able to be brought to bear. Vehicles have hardness as normal.
