Soulweave[edit]
Living metal, forged from interwoven strands of soulstuff that were folded repeatedly and beaten into shaped.
After Soulweave was discovered, it wasn't long until a study of both the tradition and metallurgy managed to work out a way to forge soulstuff into material as hard as iron and as resilient as a spirit. It is created only by Soulweavers, and while only meldshapers can use it to its fullest effects, anyone use it normally.
While it is a magical material, Soulsteel doesn't wink out in an antimagic zone any more than a human soul does, nor can it be dispelled to temporarily poof it. However, this conveys no such protection to enchantments placed upon it, so dispelling works just fine to disable the effects of the armor. It is healed by positive energy (Be it healing or damage), takes half damage from other sources, and takes full damage from negative energy effects. Death effects can destroy Soulsteel items outright, but they can be returned to life via Raise Dead and similar magic, with the exception of the Reincarnate spell.
The Ghost Touch enchantment, when applied to a Soulsteel item, has its base cost reduced by 25%.
The most useful thing about Soulsteel (And Soulweave), however, is that when used to make a magic item, that magic item interacts with soulmelds in a different way than most. Soulmelds, when bound to a Chakra, usually "turn off" any magic items also using that chakra, negating the magic item's effects. However, in the case of a Soulsteel item, you can instead choose to bind the soulmeld to the Soulsteel item itself. This allows the item and the soulmeld to both occupy the same chakra, functioning alongside each other. The drawback is that the Soulsteel item can be Dispelled, and if it is, the Soulmeld attached to it also ceases to function as long as the item's enchantment would be suppressed.
Soulsteel can only be used to make items that are made of metal, such as swords, shields, armor, rings, gauntlets and the like. Soulsteel has 16 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 12.
