As the knight struck down the balor it howled, its body vaporizing into red light and being pulled whole into the blade.

You touch a weapon and give it a pale violet aura. When you bring a creature down to 0 hp or less with your weapon, it is subject to trap the soul (no save or SR) and left with 1 hp instead. This discharges the spell, and the trapping part is permanent and can be freed as a normal trap the soul. The soul may then be freed by speaking a command word, or transferred to another accepting object such as a soul gem usually used for trap the soul spells. The trapped creature re-appears if released, or if the weapon is broken.

The weapon radiates an alignment aura as the trapped creature, but otherwise has no effects on the weapon's function.

Focus: The weapon used to trap the soul. The weapon must have at least 1,000 gp value for every Hit Die possessed by the creature to be trapped. If the weapon is not valuable enough, the effect simply fails to discharge and is not wasted.
