A roughly humanoid figure is made of polished silver wire crisscrossed in endless mesh plates with iron framing over a hidden steel skeleton. It lacks a head, but its wide chest displays a runic symbol carved into a shining mirror which tilts and glances about as if in mimicry of a head.
Crafted by conjurers apt in the art of summoning and binding spirits, the silverward golem assists in the deployment of magic circle against alignment spells, as well as being able to conjure it's own. It also serves as a good defense against rogue spirits who break from containment, giving the caster time to escape. It has the frame of a large chested humanoid with no head atop it's shoulders. It's "face" lies within its chest, a polished silver mirror with runic etchings across it. The body itself is actually just a iron skeleton wrapped in endless layers of silver chainmail.
A silverward golem cannot speak or make any vocal noise. It walks with the sound of chiming chain mail rubbing against itself.
Combat[edit]
As a golem, combat is straight forward in direct. Unlike most golems, it is actually able to use spell-like abilities. Against the appropriate targets and with the appropriate commands this can be very powerful.
Body Bind (Su): When the silverward golem makes a blow which would put an extraplanar opponent at 0 hp or less, they may make a DC 19 Will save or be trapped inside the silverward golem's mirror instead of taking the damage which would fell them. A successful save negates the trap, but not the damage. Opponents are aware of this, and some may choose to be imprisoned over being killed.
A creature bound inside the mirror can be released as a 1 round action under your control as if they were the target of a summoning spell. They serve for 7 rounds before being dismissed to their home plane (where they may then plot their revenge). The creature is automatically released and immediately dismissed after 1 week if not used before then.
A silverward golem can only contain one trapped extraplanar creature at a time. If it chooses to trap another creature, the previous creature is immediately released and dismissed.
Discorporated Circle (Su): As a standard action the silverward golem can burst into fragment, collapsing into a silver of silver which forms a circle. This duplicates magic circle against chaos/evil/good/law and lasts until the silverward golem recorporates itself as a standard action. In circle form, the golem is prone and flatfooted, and perform no actions but to recorporate, and it's movement speed drops to 0. It can take 10 minutes on this to form a more secure circle as per the spell. It can only form the trap form of magic circle. It may expend it's dimensional anchor spell-like ability while discorporating to apply the effect to the circle.
The caster level of the circle is equal to the golem's HD.
Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will-arcane mark, detect alignment; 1/day-dimensional anchor, summon monster III, tongues; 1/week-dismissal. The saving throws are Wisdom based.
Magic Immunity (Ex): A silverward golem is immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance. In addition, certain spells and effects function differently against the creature, as noted below.
Any summoning or calling effect cast on the golem causes it to eject the contents of its body bind (and the creature immediately dismissed).
An erase spell deals 1d6 points of damage per caster level, no save.
A plane shift or greater plane shiftSpC spell causes the golem to be healed 10 hp per caster level (maximum 150 hp).
Protected (Su): A silverward golem is always treated as if under the effects of protection from chaos/evil/good/law at all times.
Construction[edit]
Silverward golems are composed of endless silver wire mesh, and iron and steel skeleton frame, as well as a polished silver mirror marked with rare alchemical acids. The entire construction is worth 1800 gp.
Assembling the body requires a DC 22 Craft (metalworking) check or a DC 22 Knowledge Engineering.
CL 7th; Craft Construct, magic circle against chaos, magic circle against evil, magic circle against good, magic circle against law; Price 18,000 gp; Cost 8,100 gp + 648 XP.
