1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A shieldbow is a heavy crossbow with a heavy steel shield built on the front. Since the shield adds a lot of weight, it must be fired two-handed. The shield adds durability to the crossbow and allows the wielder to reload normally, which would be impossible with a heavy shield and a crossbow normally.

The wielder must have shield proficiency to use the shield without incurring any penalties. The weapon and shield parts are enhanced individually, and may be made of two separate special materials. You can perform shield bash with a shieldbow, it uses the crossbow enhancement bonus to attack and damage roll as well as any special ability on the shieldbow that may apply.

A light shieldbow that is made of a light crossbow and light wooden shield also exists and costs 15 gp less and wight 8 lbs. It has the statistic of a light crossbow and light shield, but otherwise still functions as a shieldbow. A shieldbow exists in repeating forms as well, but requiring proficiencies in both the shieldbow and matching repeating crossbow, and cost an additional 450 GP and weight 4 lbs more.

A shieldbow counts as the appropriate crossbow type for the purpose of all feats and abilities, with the exception of proficiency.
