This round buckler has a magical sigil carved in the front, with four colored jewels inset at its cardnal points; red, white, black, and blue. When using its special ability the jewels burn out to a pale gray one by one.
The shield of the practiced spellcaster is a +1 buckler designed by gith armorsmiths to better aid their gish warriors. Gishes combine magic and melee prowress, but never have the full power of a true caster due to lost caster levels. The shield has no arcane spell failure due to its craftmanship. The shield has 4 charges which are renewed each day. When casting a spell or spell-like ability, you can use 1 or more charges to augment the spell's caster level. This is a free action and part of spellcasting. You recieve the following benefit depending on how many charges you have used:
- 1 charge: +1 CL
- 2 charges: +2 CL
- 3 charges: +3 CL
- 4 charges: +4 CL
Your caster level cannot exceed your HD amount when using this shield. For example a 10 HD character with CL 7 can use up to 1, 2, or 3 charges on his spell, but trying to use 4 charges at once has no effect, as the highest he may boost his CL is 10.
Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, creator must have the Practiced SpellcasterCA feat.
Cost to Create: 3015, 240 EXP, 6 days.
