The more you use the shield, the more worn down it appears. Yet the emblem of a knight standing proud never fades.
A masterwork wooden heavy shield, it is often left unenchanted for it is designed to take punishment in your steed. It reduces all incoming damage you take by 2 points, but transfers that damage to 100 charges it holds which cannot be restored by any means short of limited wish. Once all 100 charges are expended, the shield breaks.
As a non-action you can shatter the shield immediately regardless of remaining charges to save yourself from one single attack that would bring you below 0 hp, leaving you at 1 hp for damage or for a failed save against death, or 1 Con for ability damage loss. It cannot save you from effects that do not kill you.
Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, shield other.
