Seversword[edit]

Seversword uses the Functional Weapons of Legacy variant rule.

Seversword is a large broadsword, as tall as a full-grown man, shaped like a butcher knife. The blade itself has two cut outs, a circle close to the top and a semi-circular one nearer to the handle, the former of which is aptly fitting the sword's purpose of decapitation. The latter notch allows a strap to be wrapped around the weapon, making it easier for the user to carry. Its extremely long handle is also detachable to further aid transportation and then reattached when required for combat

Seversword functions as a +1 blacksteel bloodthirsty executioner's giant blade. There are seven rituals that are performed, they must be performed in order (the 2nd ritual must be completed before you start the 3rd, even if you achieve the 3rd level pre-requisites). Rituals cost gold (in the form of feeding the blade raw materials) and xp, with an additional pre-requisite. You can take time out and spend 8 hours bringing the weapon to the next level once you have the pre-requisites.

Seversword is a unique magic item, almost an artifact. While it has a price, it cannot be completely destroyed. If reduced to 0 hp, it instead falls inert in a broken condition, and unable to be used until repaired, but is not destroyed as items usually are. It is treated as an artifact against the effects of mage's disjunction.

Omen: When held, the Seversword draws blood to it and drinks it in. It regains hp equal to the bleed it inflicts, even when broken or inert. When broken or inert it deals minimum damage (3 points) per hit.


1st Ritual (Carving Knife)[edit]

Bleeder: Seversword gains the Razor enhancement. When the blade inflicts bleedout or kills a creature, it regains 10 hp.

Bloody Cleaver: Your Cleave feat becomes Great Cleave and triggers on Bleedout as well as dropping the creatures (a creature you drop and inflict bleedout with a single attack, grants only one cleave attempt). If you already had Great Cleave, you may move 5 feet before the cleave attempt.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +3 or Str 20, and Cleave. Must drain the blood from 4 creatures killed by the blade.

Cost: 3000 gp, 120 xp

2nd Ritual (Demon Chopper)[edit]

Chopper: Seversword can now remove limbs, it gains the Dismemberment weapon enhancement.

Iron Slab: Seversword grants the benefits of wielding a tower shield without the drawbacks. The tower shield has an enhancement bonus equal to that of the weapon.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +6 and must dismember the corpses of a dozen creatures killed by the blade and throw them in a pile.

Cost: 6000 gp, 240 xp

3rd Ritual (Flying Guillotine)[edit]

Revolving Guillotine: You may throw the Seversword as a standard action. Treat it as a throwing weapon with a 20 foot range increment and a -4 penalty to hit. The Seversword benefits from an extraordinary Returning enhancement. Those proficient can also make up to a 90 degree turn in their projectile, allowing them to shoot around corners. They suffer from concealment as normal. If the thrown Seversword triggers cleave, it may continue in a straight line to another target within range (distance penalties apply).

Increase Enhancement Bonus: Seversword's enhancement bonus increases to +2.

Pre-Requisites: Weapon focus (Seversword), BAB +9, The wielder of Seversword must carry the seversword up a mountain with a heavy load.

Cost: 9000 gp, 360 xp

4th Ritual (Decapitator)[edit]

Decapitator: Seversword gains the Vorpal, GT Variant weapon enhancement.

Bloodseeker: You may use Blood Seek as a maneuver-like ability every other round as a swift action.

Executioner: When using the Seversword to make a Coup de Grace, you do not provoke an attack of opportunity and may perform it one step faster. You may perform a Coup de Grace two steps faster if you choose to provoke an attack of opportunity.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +12, The Seversword must be used to behead (Coup de Grace) over 50 victims.

Cost: 12,500 gp, 500 xp

5th Ritual (Blood Drinker)[edit]

Cleave Asunder: When a creature is dealt damage by Seversword if it under half it maximum hit points or if it has 5 hit point per point of Bab of the wielder or less (whichever is more), it is affected by Dismemberment as if you rolled a natural 20. A creature who succeeds its save is immune to the effects of Cleave Asunder for 1 minute. Creatures immune to [death] effects cannot be slain by this ability, but on a failed save they take an additional 5 points of damage per point of the wielder's base attack bonus. A creature slain by Seversword weapon cannot be resurrected by anything weaker than a resurrection spell.

Blood Thirst: You may use Bloodthirst as a maneuver-like ability once per encounter.

Increase Enhancement Bonus: Seversword's enhancement bonus increases to +3.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +15, Seversword must be reduced to 0 hp from max hp and returned to full hp using its omen in a single encounter.

Cost: 25,000 gp, 1000 xp

6th Ritual (Seversword)[edit]

Bleeding Biter: Seversword gains the sacrificial transformation weapon enhancement.

Blade Block: As an immediate action you gain the benefits of Shield Other for 1 round between yourself and the Seversword. Damage to the Seversword is not shared with the wielder.

Pre-Requisites: BAB +18, The Wielder of the Seversword must kill 7 creatures with CRs equal to or greater than his own with a single blow.

Cost: 50,000 gp, 2000 xp

7th Ritual (Blood Bath)[edit]

Seversword: You gain the benefits of the Severing Strike feat.

Blood Quickening: When you use Bleeding Biter, you also gain the benefits of sacrificial swiftskin

Increase Enhancement Bonus: Seversword's enhancement bonus increases to +4.

Pre-Requisites: ECL 21, The Wielder of the Seversword must slay The Hydra with the Seversword.

Cost: 100,000 gp, 4000 xp


Cost to Create: The Seversword is unique and cannot be remade.
