Runite[edit]
This dense and nearly impenetrable metal defines the quality of a weapon or suit of armor. It's a crafted material starting with legendary star metal found only from the few large meteorites the dots the lands sparingly. Then needs to be refined by a master runesmith and magically imbued before it can be forged in dragons fire. Weapons fashioned from Runite have a natural ability to bypass hardness when sundering weapons or attacking objects, ignoring hardness less than 30.
Armor made from Runite grants its wearer damage reduction of 3/– if it’s light armor, 5/– if it’s medium armor, and 7/– if it’s heavy armor. It will also double the AC Bonus of the armor (Ex: Fullplate's +8 AC would be a +16 if made from Runite) and carry a +5 spell resist.
Runite is so costly that weapons and armor made from it are always of masterwork quality; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given below. Thus, Runite weapons and ammunition have a +3 enhancement bonus on attack rolls, and the armor check penalty of runite armor is lessened by 3 compared to ordinary armor of its type. Items without metal parts cannot be made from Runite. An arrow could be made of Runite, but a quarterstaff could not.
Only weapons, armor, and shields normally made of metal can be fashioned from Runite. Weapons, armor and shields normally made of steel that are made of Runite have one-half more hit points than normal. Runite has 100 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 30.
