Runic Tapestries are a matched pair of Handwraps, made from silk and embroidered with runes and imagery of an elemental effect, such as roaring flames, gusting wind, twisting vines, crackling lightning, or crashing waves. Sometimes, when not looking directly at it, the embroidery appears animated as if it were a series of similar drawings on the pages of a book as they're rapidly flipped.

Any creature can attune to a pair of Runic Tapestries and gain the benefits of their magical bonus to attack and damage rolls made with unarmed strikes. However, their true power is awakened if a creature that can cast spells attunes to the Tapestries. While worn by the attuned user, the pair of Tapestries gains the following properties:

  • Spellcasting Focus: The pair of Runic Tapestries can be used as a spellcasting focus for any spellcaster, granting a bonus to spell attack rolls and spell save DCs equal to their bonus to unarmed attack and damage rolls.
  • Elemental Attunement: As a bonus action, you can choose one of the following damage types: Fire, Cold, Poison, Lightning, Acid, or Thunder. The embroidery visible on the Tapestries shifts in form to reflect the chosen damage type, and remains animated while this property is active, shedding dim light in a 5ft radius.
Until you use this feature again, or use your bonus action to end the effect, the bonus to unarmed damage granted by the Tapestries changes to deal damage of the chosen damage type, instead of the same type as your unarmed strike.
  • Primal Hand: The tapestries allow you to channel your magic directly through them by touch, rather than releasing it in the traditional way. When you cast a spell that requires a ranged spell attack against a target within your unarmed melee reach, you may choose to make it as a melee spell attack instead. This allows you to use ranged spells, such as Fire Bolt, against a target within your unarmed melee reach without suffering disadvantage.
  • Arcane Fist: When you make a successful melee spell attack with a spell, you can choose to deal additional damage to the target of that spell. This damage is equal to one roll of your unarmed damage die, and is of the same type of damage dealt by your unarmed strike; You do not add your Strength modifier to this additional damage, nor any other effect that would ordinarily be added to your unarmed strike. This is not actually an unarmed attack, nor is it a melee weapon attack - It does not trigger effects that require you to land a melee weapon or unarmed attack in order to trigger, such as Stunning Strike or Divine Smite.
You may only trigger this property once per spell per turn, even if the spell - Such as Eldritch Blast or Scorching Ray - Allows you to make more than one attack per spell. If you have the Extra Attack feature, and have not taken the Attack action since the beginning of your turn, you may add your unarmed damage a number of times per spell per turn equal to the number of attacks you could ordinarily make when you take the Attack action.
For example, if an 11th-level Tabaxi Warlock casts Eldritch Blast, they can make three melee spell attacks using the Primal Hand property of the Runic Tapestries. However, they would only be able to add their unarmed damage - 1d4 - To one of the three attacks. If the Warlock possesses the Thirsting Blade invocation, they could add their unarmed damage to two of the attacks.
However, if a Fighter 11/Warlock 1 with the Unarmed Fighting Style cast Eldritch Blast, they could add their unarmed damage - 1d8 - To all three spell attacks, since they can attack three times whenever they take the Attack Action.
