Rock paper scissors GO! Ha ha, paper covers rock!
You count to three with the chant of "rock paper scissors" and randomly create a magical hazard; a falling boulder, tight wrapping paper, or a pair of large blades. Roll 1d4 and refer to the chart below.
1d4 | Result | Effect |
---|---|---|
1 | Rock | Deal 1d6 magic bludgeoning damage per level to target (max 10d6), Reflex half. |
2 | Paper | Target is entangled, immobilized, and blinded until they unwrap themselves as a standard action. A successful Reflex save reduces it to just entangled. |
3 | Scissors | Deal 1d6 magic slashing damage per level to target (max 10d6), Reflex half. |
4 | Any | Your choice of any of the three results. |
Some results are more effective against creatures than others, though the nature of these counters is strange. Rock deals 50% more damage against creatures which can deal slashing damage (including those currently armed with a slashing manufactured weapon). Paper has a +3 DC against creatures with the Earth subtype, or with hardness. Scissors deals 50% more damage against creatures without damage reduction or hardness. To this day mages are unsure for the reasons for this unusual arrangement.
